your cheapest choice is a cornsnake for as little as $4. But, you should probably not have the snake eat him. It might have some kind of disease. Instead, maybe call an exterminator!

Babies need to be fed pinkie mice, and so you'll certainly need a supply of those. Until they grow a bit, neonates can be kept in tupperware boxes with just a paper towel as substrate. They need a water bowl, though they don't soak as much as older snakes so it doesn't have to be huge. They will need a sturdy rock to rub against. This will help them shed. Don't underestimate how strong your snake it- when I say a sturdy rock I mean it. They'll also need a hide box so that they can feel safe. Snakes need to thermoregulate themselves, so one side of the enclosure will need to be warmer than the other. Thte best way to do this is to put a heat pad under half the cage, or place is half on a heating duct. Obviously, your snake will grow, so before you commit to getting a snake you'll need to make sure you can look after an adult corn snake as well as a baby. Your best bet is to buy a book (or ten) on caring for corn snakes. You can never be too well researched.

Well sort of, when a snake has a bad shed its showing signs of bad keeping and having the shed still stuck to it constantly if its shed in pieces will obviously put the snake in a bad mood especially retained eye caps!

The humidity should be a little bit higher than usual for when the snake is in shed (e.g. misting the tank daily) and some sort of rock or bark to rub against to pull it off and no handling unless it is absolutely necessary.

They can get into much smaller places than you ever could, and will likely have either found a hiding place within your home - OR - it's outside your property most likely surviving by eating local wild rodents.

If you think it's still somewhere inside your home, you can try putting it's usual food inside the vivarium but leave the door open. First of all, Thank you for not panicking or killing the snake. Cornsnakes are non-venomous completely harmless snakes but they do have a look-a-like and that is the venomous copper head so make sure that the snake is a cornsnake. Don't worry if you hear rattling because cornsnakes vibrate their tail like a rattlesnake to scare away predators.

Okay, now to get rid of the snake. What you will need is a large stick or a snake pole that has a non-sharp hook on it and a thick pillow case that you can throw away afterwards. If the snake is bunched up in a corner then straighten it's body out with the stick, if the snake is aggressive then use the stick to pick it up, if he is pretty calm then gently pick up his tail and hold it in your hands. Get a friend to hold the pillow case on the ground in front of the snake and he should slither into it. If he is aggressive and you are using the stick to pick him up then shove him into the pillow case and he should slither off of the stick and settle in the pillow case. Make sure that the snake is at the bottom of the pillow case and then tie a knot so he cannot escape. Next relocate him in some nearby woods or at the place where woods and a meadow or field meet. He should just slither into the woods and not bother you.

If you don't feel comfortable getting the snake out your self then call an exterminator to get him in the pillow case for you and then relocate him your self. Good luck!
