They added another reference to the sea; the siren - a mythical creature who it was believed lured unsuspecting sailors to their watery deaths - is depicted on the Starbucks logo.

Starbucks...I disagree...Peet's is actually much, much better. Peet's roasts their beans in small batches like a smaller, local roaster would. The beans are much fresher and more evenly roasted. Roasting beans in smaller batches makes the roasting process easier to control. Whenever I drink Starbucks, all I can taste is the residue of the oils they use. All of their coffees, regardless of bean variety, taste over roasted and bitter to me. I definitely do not enjoy spending $3 for a cup of burnt coffee.
