A Christmas Carol

Whilst the story is set in Victorian London of 1843 the message remains as fresh to day as it was when it was written. Modern readers will draw similarities with current political and environmental issues then and now. There are still people suffering through deprivation, poverty and lacking in work and there are still those that have both the money and power to bring about change in those areas.

There have been hundreds over the past 170 plus years. However one notable entertainer that has taken the part to both sides of the atlantic is a British man named Tommy Steel whose last tour in the stage musical was in 2013 at the age of 70

After Marley's death, Dickens describes Scrooge as even more isolative, bitter, and misanthropic. He becomes more obsessed with his work and wealth, showing even less concern for others. Scrooge's behavior becomes even more cold and uncaring as he distances himself from any meaningful human connections.

They were a large family of victorian times who were poor. They lived in a terranced house in Camden Town london. Their youngest child Tim suffered illnesses which they could not seek medical help for as it was to costly and therefore the child had simpley to be made comfortable until the inevitable occured. Bob the father earned only fifteen shillings each week whcih was not a huge amount of money. Thei home was poorly decorated and furnished - However, they were happy as a family

In the last stave Bob Cratchit is not home at his normal time. This cause his family concern. When he comes home he expalins that he has been to the grave of his son Tim and look at the area where he lies

Basically they are poles apart. Scrooge has grown into a miserly cold hearted ignorant old man and his former employer showed a business attitude coupled with a warm friendly humanitarian view

"A Christmas Carol" was written by Charles Dickens and first published in 1843. The novella tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man who undergoes a transformation after being visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come.

Bob Cratchit was Scrooge's loyal and hardworking employee in "A Christmas Carol." Despite Scrooge's mistreatment, Cratchit remained dedicated to his work and family, embodying the spirit of Christmas and kindness.

Scrooge sees what Christmas is like for people that are around him at the time, he also sees Tiny Tim Cratchit and is shocked to hear that he was life limited and would not see another Christmas - Now Scrooge starts to understand the true meaning of Christmas

The clock on the stage in "A Christmas Carol" symbolizes time passing and serves as a reminder to Scrooge of his mortality. It heightens the sense of urgency for Scrooge to reflect on his past, present, and future, prompting his transformation throughout the story. The striking of the clock also underscores key moments in the narrative, emphasizing the fleeting nature of time.

The first Spirit (The Ghost Of Christmas Past) as foretold by Marley was there to show Scrooge his own past. This brought out many difficult situations that he suffered as a child and young man, most of which made him in to the person he was to to

In "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, the men give Scrooge's belongings to charity after his death. They also comment on his unpopularity and lack of mourners.

Scrooge was scared by the sight of the tombstone because it bore his name, indicating that it was a glimpse of his own future death. This sight made him realize the consequences of his mean and selfish behavior, stirring feelings of fear and regret within him.

It was a chain he forged in life that contained all the things important to him such as replica safes, keys, money bags and ledgers - He tells scrooge that because he ignored mankind's plight in life he wares the chain as a self-imposed punishment for his eternal torment. He further advises Scrooge that his chain was that same size as the one he wears seven Christmases again and Scrooges in now seven time bigger and more ponderous

The sign above the counting house in "A Christmas Carol" reads "Scrooge and Marley." It signifies the business partnership between Ebenezer Scrooge and Jacob Marley, two greedy and miserly characters in the novella.

In his counting house - He locked up and went to the local Ail House which was his usual habit.

At home it would have been MArley who was the visitor and Scrooge would have gone to bed to away his ghostly intervention

Cratchit and Scrooge's nephew choose to forgive Scrooge immediately because they experience an extraordinary transformation in him. They see that Scrooge sincerely regrets his past actions and is committed to changing for the better. By forgiving him, they demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a belief in redemption.

In "A Christmas Carol," Scrooge's belongings are sold off by his housekeeper and the local charwoman to a fence, who then resells them. The items are traded for a fraction of their worth as the buyers are afraid of being associated with Scrooge's negative reputation.

In "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, the children Ignorance and Want symbolize social issues such as ignorance and poverty. They appear as deformed and almost animal-like to emphasize the consequences of neglecting these societal problems. Dickens uses them to highlight the importance of addressing these issues and promoting awareness and charity.

It was clothed in one simple green robe, or mantle, bordered with white fur. This garment hung so loosely on the figure, that its capacious breast was bare, as if disdaining to be warded or concealed by any artifice. Its feet, observable beneath the ample folds of the garment, were also bare; and on its head it wore no other covering than a holly wreath, set here and there with shining icicles. Its dark brown curls were long and free: free as its genial face, its sparkling eye, its open hand, its cheery voice, its unconstrained demeanour, and its joyful air. Girded round its middle was an antique scabbard; but no sword was in it, and the ancient sheath was eaten up with rust.

Scrooge prioritized his career and wealth over personal relationships, which led him to neglect the woman he loved. He became consumed by greed and lost touch with his emotions, ultimately pushing her away.

The children represents Want (the girl) and Ignorance (the Boy). The levels of want in Britain of the tame were vast with many suffering death through the need of food, warmth and somewhere to live. The ignorance was aimed at those who had the money and power to make the changes. These two attitudes were of man own making. Man was ignorant to the those around them and the want was generated by those who could and did have power to relieve its levels

To get along with Scrooge, you could try to understand their perspective and be patient with their behavior. Show empathy towards their experiences that may have shaped their character and try to find common ground to build a connection. Setting boundaries and communicating openly about your needs can also help create a more positive relationship.
