my son was switched to straterra for its lesser effect on apetite suppression. within weeks he was moody and irritable. severe mood swings made us switch back to his adderal xr and i now live with the fact that he will eat early in the morning and late at night. as long as he's getting his calories in i will never switch to another medication. i also don't medicate him over weekends and school vacations my advice to you and your new doctor is not to switch especially if your son is doing well. if it's not broken, why fix it?

From what I've read about withdrawal symptoms it sounds like it builds up in your system like anti-depressants.

I accidently "belched" a capsule up a few minutes after taking it, and it broke in my mouth. The taste was so awful it made me physically sick!

I can't imagine what you'd mix it with to mask or hide that nasty taste!

hey patricia,my 4yr. old grandson takes strattera.he started on a low dose,then the next higher dose.he usually take it around 7am.,goes to headstart,comes home around 3 or 4p.m. i have noticed that it starts to wear off around 5 or 6p.he's buck wild by then.he is also very tired and sleepy too.so,we try to let him get all of his frustration out,give him a warm bath,get sleepers on,hopefully he will eat something,whatever he wants.then prepare him for bed no later than 8p.hope he can get at least 9 or 10 hrs. of sleep.good luck.

According to my doctor, Strattera can make you drowsy about 8-9 hours after taking it and that it only lasts a little while. So he recommended that if it happens, to switch to taking it in the evenings so that you are sleeping when you get drowsy. He has 300+ patients out of his ~450 patients taking Strattera and he said the ones taking it in the evening after dinner don't report it reducing its effectiveness. It can also help those who have stomach upset, since most people eat a bigger dinner than do breakfast.

I feel the benefits outweight the risk's one very good thing about the drug is that it is not a controlled stimulant like Ritalin or adderal, like any psychiatric medications there are a slew of side effect's but there is only one way to find out whether you will be effected by any of these my suggestion give the medication a try for a minumum of a month have loved one's or wife ect pay attention and see if it effects you in a negative or positive manner good luck try not reading into thing's as much they will terrify you
