How can a 17-year-old find a copy of their adoption papers?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If you want the name of a PI that has helped many children and birth mothers re-unite, or at least find out the facts then email me direct to: adoption@plzone.com. I will leave this email active for a while. The lady helped my nephew find his mother (my sister-in-law). My sister-in-law has four kids she raised and they have had a great family reunion. And this P.I. helped my wife find her son she gave up for adoption 30 years ago. All this has turned out wonderful!!! My wife and her son talk every week on the phone and we have even made great friends with the family that adopted him. We talk to them twice a week, or at least email real often. We have exchanged at least 500 photos . . . they story goes on . . .

They can pay for your expenses but that is as far as it goes. Federal law says you can not accept money for placing your child for adoption. Expenses for birth, medical, living etc is paid during the pregnancy through the agency by the family who will adopt. Also a sum the following month after birth for post natal care. Anything else counts as trafficking.

How can you find out your adopted?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are a ton of ways that the world has created. But as an adopted child myself, I say stay out of it! It's not some fairy tale like you see in the movies. I hated that my birth parents made contact with me. They have homes and families and you gave them up. You'll only be screwing their life up again by making any contact.

What is difference between adoption and guardian?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Being a guardian/foster parent, you get paid for everything. The child recieves many benefits. Such as Vacation Fund, Or Recreational Fund. Depending on the childs time in care as well, they're eligible to receive free schooling throughout College/University. But being an Adoptive parent you cover the costs of everything. I have personally grown up as a foster child, Been adopted, & unadopted once again. I know how this works.

Can you terminate parental rights on a incarcerated parent?

User Avatar

yes you can get a fathers rights terminated if he has been terminated if he's been in and out of prison ---- Having parental rights (and responsibilities) terminated is a very serious action which doesn't happen automatically because someone's in prison. It's a lengthy court process. You need to talk to a family law attorney.

Can you get married to your adopted cousin?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depends on where you live bit in most countries you can marry a cousin adopted or not. If you are not first cousins but second, third etc it's rarely illegal. We know today that children of first cousins don't run a bigger risk of having damaged children, like siblings having children together, than if they were not related at all.

How can you tell your parents that you want to be adopted?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Very gently, it would break my heart if my child would want to be adopted by someone else. Im assuming that you dont have a good relationship with your parents to even consider this. If that is the case did you ever think of family counseling to get to the root of the problem. If you've done that or neither of you are interested in this option then depending on your age, underage, with their consent of course. Go down to your local court house and see the civil clerk to get the proper papers to move forward. Good luck

Is it weird to like your friends mom?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The bond between a mother and her children is strongest for most children. Then, a good majority of teens think they "hate" both their parents. Somewhere by the time an adult child is earning their own money, paying their own bills, kicking themselves for their mistakes and then solving their own problems, adult kids don't hate their parents as much as before. But it can still be hard to say "I love you"... until the adult has their own children. So no, it isn't weird to love your mom, nor weird to dislike her sometimes, too.

Can you adopt a child that you already have custody of when the mother threw the child in trash can after birth and after 2 years does not want to give up parental rights?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If you are not the biological father of the child then no the mother still retains her rights as the child's maternal mother and therefore can put a stop to you adopting her child.

In such cases the mother would have be proven enough of an unfit parent that her rights are legally stripped from her but that is very slim chance unless her behavior puts the child in danger.

Now once the child reaches a certain age (which is different in different states and countries) the child may decide they want you to adopt them and may choose to be adopted by you in which case the court would (usually) honor the child's decision and allow the adoption to proceed.

Can you file for citizenship if you owe child support in the US?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Answer

The answer is probably YES, if it has not been reported to the Federal government or the state has not taken action against you. In most cases states do a lousy job at collecting child support.

In my case, I sponsored my foreign based spouse for a K-1 visa and then a perament residence card. I was never questioned about past owed support, I was asked to supply the shame of judgment (93 pages) and because it was so lengthy the USCIS only wanted to confirm that I was in fact divorced. Even while the state was moving forward to have my driver's license suspended fro non-payment for three years, I applied and received a new passport. At the time I owed over $200,000 in support mostly alimony and attorney's fees. Since that time I was appealing the judgment and it has correctly been reversed because of the unreasonableness of such orders.

So all said and done, the answer is probably YES, unless it has been reported to the Federal government.

Answer

I'm not sure, but I think you will have a problem, especially if the custodial parent has filed for any type of social/public services on behalf of the child that you were supposed to have been helping to support all of this time.

Answer

you need to find out how much you owe, who you owe it to, and pay it off before you file. if you owe it to the custodial parent it is possible for them to waive back child support, but that is up to them. if you owe it to the state, you will need to contact them and set up a payment plan.

Answer

Actually, you can't even go into most countries if you owe, or are currently paying child support. My ex-husband is a truck driver, and Canada won't even let him in after they run his drivers license.

Answer

Visa laws for applying do not let you Obtain a Visa to leave the U.S. if you owe more than $10,000 us dollars in back child support. If you Marry a citizen of another country and apply for citizenship while in that country they will not deny you as long as you have set up payment arrangements with the Federal Government, in many cases they do not check. If the Federal Government has been involved I.E.. If your case has been through court and you have been ordered to make payments, or if Back support comes out of your taxes, you are responsible to the Federal Government.

check the immigration laws: NO. but, if you pay or have a payment plan with the court and you show and prove that you paid in full or you are making your payments on time at least for one year. Remember it is a crime. and INS can see this like a moral turpide crime. The no payment of child support affect your credit, your driver license... etc...

Can an unwed mother give child up for adoption without the father's consent?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If the mother is unmarried and the father has never established his paternity that might be possible if the mother claims the father is unknown. If the father knows he has fathered a child he can request a DNA test to establish his paternity through the court. The child could not be adopted without his or the court's consent
