What are opponents view of gay and lesbian adoption?
Who would the "Opponents" be, those who don't believe in "adoption" as a whole? or those who only don't support "gay and lesbian" adoption?
I think that children should be kept with their families only using adoption as a very last alternative. If parenting cannot and should not be done, then legal guardianship should be the next step.
However, there are many foster children who need homes, and I think gay and lesbian's should be allowed to open their homes to foster children and youth. I do not believe adoption is a way to "build families" adoption should be about providing security to a child who needs it.
Some of my other friends in the adoptee community feel that a child deserves a mother and a father, since that's what they lost and I can understand the meaning behind that. If a child is born to those, the child should have them if looking into adoption for the best interests of the child. However, I haven't come to that whole conclusion yet, because I feel like the child should remain with them. That giving them a second set of mother and father isn't the same as their natural parents. Some children cannot go back to their natural parents due to abuse and neglect at which point the family is broken. I think if a gay / lesbian family has a home to offer in this instance, then by all means allow them to open their doors.
I don't support newborn / infant domestic adoptions or international adoptions for any parents so in my opinion for that, gay / lesbians shouldn't be allowed to adopt then either. Not because of their sexual preference but because the adoptions are so unethical and anti-adoptee.
Who can I give my baby to for adoption?

What states allow the disowning of an adopted child?
It depends on the age of the child, and other than that believe this would be handled on a case by case situation. When my husband adopted my daughter, the judge made it very clear she was now his child in every way, til death do they part. So from that I will say, an adopted or natural child makes no difference in the eyes of the law (In CA at least).
The following came from an attorney in Ohio regarding a noncustodial father who wanted to disown his 14 daughter who was being somewhat of a handful;
You are responsible, at a minimum, for your natural children until they reach the age of majority (18). Theoretically, he could voluntarily terminate his parental rights, but I doubt any court would accept such a surrender of rights because the purpose of termination is to protect children from unfit parents, not vice-versa.
Once they reach adulthood you would be legally able to disinherit your adopted adult child the same way you would a biological adult child.
