What is better an alpaca or a gibbon?

depends on which way you look at it.

the gibbon fur is of far less value than that of the alpaca. Not even 1% of the alpaca.

so if it is purely for making the dollar, go alpaca go.

however, the gibbon will provide any budding zookeeper with hours of entertainment and companionship.

note, the alpaca is also a very charming animal and so the real answer to this question is

gibbon=alpaca.

you could get the gibbons to shave the alpacas and then you wouldn't have to pay someone else. and the gibbons would learn about hard work and stuff.

note, the alpaca could be used as a guard animal for the gibbons and yourself.

happy alpacgibboning!

Do alpacas run away?

Occasionally I leave the door on their paddocks open while I go to get water or food for my alpacas, and they will leave. Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, right? If one of them gets out, they'll most likely go back to the rest of them because they are herd animals and don't like being left alone. If more than one or two get out, it's much trickier. If possible, get a couple people to help you, and make it so they start running towards the gate, and make them keep going towards it. It's easy for me because I have the barn on one side of the gate, and I can tie a rope to the other, so they have to go into their paddock. Either that, or get a bucket of grain or alfalfa and lure them back in, although I find that that is working less and less now that they know what happens if they start to follow me.

Does the alpaca bite?

I found this question because I was just bitten by an alpaca and needed 13 stitches and wondered if this happens to others.

I have two alpacas, and one was tangled up in some electric fence braid. I was trying to untangle one and the other firmly clamped on my forearm. He was protecting his herd. This is the first aggressive act in the two years I've owned them.

So, I'd say, no, alpacas do not bite. Well, sometimes, rarely.

Also, the faqs say that alpacas do not have top teeth, just a hard palette. My deep laceration tells me that upper teeth or not, something in the top of it's mouth can slice human flesh.

I concur with every other site on alpacas though. They are docile, friendly, curious, manageable, and otherwise non-threatening.

How is an alpaca gelded?

Does an alpaca squawk?

No, alpacas don't squawk. They hum to communicate with others or if they are about to make a move to protect they will sort of gurgle in their throats to warn you. When they gurgle I would back of sharpish because it's a sign of bringing up regurgitated food in order to spit.
