Why is it against the law to abuse animals?

It's against the law because: IT IS WRONG. People make laws for a reason, to prevent wrongdoings, crimes and hurting others. Abusing animals is definitely immoral, unjust and wrong (Abuse of people is against the law, so why shouldn't animals be too?). It's like abusing an innocent child who can't speak out for themselves for no reason.

Also, even if it wasn't against the law, it is still wrong and shouldn't be done.

..

Non-human animals have no inherent rights. IF animals had rights: what moral obligations do they have?. That there is no moral obligation makes it abundantly obvious that non human animals have no inherent rights.

Laws NEVER prevent action.

Is dog fighting good?

NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT. This honestly shouldn't even be a question someone should have to ask. Making dogs fight for the entertainment of low-life thugs is not good in any way. It's abuse to the animals, physically, mentally, and emotionally. The dogs are fighting because they've been raised to do so. Then, people end up thinking the dogs are an 'evil breed' when -in reality- that is not ture in any way. The real 'evil' is on the outside of the fighting ring.

What they basically do is they go to certain places on tips to investigate potential cases of animal cruelty. If the animals are in bad condition, they get a seizure warrant and take the animals to be treated and then get adopted. Later, if a court case develops, they show up in court and present evidence against the person, and usually the pet's former owner loses and they either have to pay money or go to prison.

No, it is very important. The problem is that we claim that things are endangered that are not and cause large amounts of money to be wasted chasing false issues. Saving polar bears because I feel good about doing so is a large waste of time and money and overall hurts many different things, including the environment.
