Well, seeing as I'm the guy that actually performed this, it actually is not as enticing as it may sound. I attempted this, with much practice and patience. I gradually went from a small jar to a full size mason jar. I attempted it and filmed for scientific research. The results were not what I had intended. The jar shattered into many little scraps. The pain I felt was like no other. Hurt so much that I was unable to scream my pain away. It took me 6 minutes to get all the shards out, then I had to flush out all the little tiny peaces that I could not retrieve. I bleed entirely too much. It depends on which set you have. One of the more common five piece sets I have seen have sold online between 40-90$ in modest condition. If you have any antique dealers, higher class pawn shops, ect. I would get an estimate from them first. They might give you less cash then you would get online but at least you could get it fast and without all the hassle. Also, if you could find out how old it is that might help. To my knowledge they made them mostly in the 50's and early 60's and then made a few in the 70's. The 50's and early 60's are more valuable. You could always try to Google their history.

The metal it was made out of. Oneida flatware has little or not value unless it's silver. The company is in a downward spiral & has lost it's reputation as a good flatware manufacturer. Switching to offshore product to increase profit margin has destroyed this company. Sad but true.
