WM Rogers was a producer of many silver plated pieces and only a very few sterling pieces. I would say 99% of it is plate. Make sure that this piece is stamped sterling, .925, or 925/1000 somewhere on the piece. If not, it is plate and worth very little in the open market.

The hallmark (eagle)WmRogers(star) was in use between 1827 & 1841, The 433 is I'm guessing after much research a catalog or style number. I happen to have the creamer and sugar bowl in exactly that pattern 433.

99.999% of wm rogers silver is plated it would have to be an exceptional piece to be worth very much. I do know that it's plated copper as the plate on the set I have is starting to go I think it looks better copper personally.

In 1876 an American gentleman named Henry Clay Work was visiting England.

He visited a place in Piercebridge, North Yorkshire called The George Inn which is just off the A67. While he was there he saw what is also known as a longcase, or tall case, clock standing in the hallway.The clock was not going and it was explained to Mr.Work that it had never worked since its owner, an old man, had died. Mr.Work was so taken up by this that when he returned home he wrote what is now the popular song,"MY GRANDFATHER'S CLOCK" and it is from that song that grandfather clocks got their name.

The clock is still at the George Inn and is still not working.

In the United States the term Grandfather clock has stuck and some try to differentiate sizes by using the terms Grandmother clock and Granddaughter clock. The sizes and terms are subjective.

A crystal figurine, that could mean lot's of things. Some figurines are made of glass that has been fused while extremely hot. Usually these are rather large and flowing peices, sea gulls, animals and sometimes even flowers. Since they are essentially blobs of heated glass sometimes the smaller pieces simply part company with the larger peices. They are not actually broken they just come apart. These can be cleaned and reset with little or no damage showing. Perhaps your figurine is made up of faceted glass, made up to represent almost any thing. Usually they have simply come apart, the adhesive was not properly applied in the begining, cleaning and resetting works here too. Often when these items become damaged some amount of grinding and polishing is necessary to remove the sharp edges and make the piece presentable again. We once had a small hand that originally stood with fingers up on a table. Its only use was to look pretty. Someone knocked it over and damaged three of the four fingers. No way to repair them or replace them, what to do? We simply cut off all the fingers the same length, polished the ends till they were back to clean and adheared the hand (fingers down) to a small round mirror. Now the hand appears to be reaching into the mirror.

It depends on what condition it is in and what the history of that particular copy is.

I just purchased a #2 on line for $15 plus $12 shipping. You can find them on several auction sites with and without the tin cup used as a ground coffee collection cup and a hopper cover for $15~$45 DEPENDING ON CONDITION.

A good "value or worth" for a #2 would about $50 in good condition with catch cup.

There are two versions of the Toppie Elephant that we see pop up every now and again.

The first version being the 1957 Toppie which is taller and longer with a shorter trunk. Measuring 16" in height with plastic eye buttons, saddle with elastic and a pink ribbon.

The second toppie is the 1958 which is the smaller Toppie with the larger trunk, plastic eyes and a blue ribbon. Measuring 12" in height and no saddle.

The 1957 Toppie is the rarer of the two and it's value can exceed $500.00 USD in the 2013 market if in Mint - Near Mint Condition. It's very hard to find any of these, let alone in good condition.

The 1958 holds some value, but does not compare to the 1957. The 1958 Toppie has an approximate 2013 value of $95 USD.

You can notice the differences in these two just by looking at them. One stands on all four, has a saddle and pink ribbon (1957 - $500+). The other cannot stand on it's own, has a blue ribbon and a longer trunk (1958 - $95)

These reports are figured by the amount of World-Wide listings trending and demand. The 1957 Toppie is reverred as a much more sought after collectible than the 1958. But both do hold true value.

As of this posting there are two Toppies currently up for auction. One is on eBay, and the other is on Etsy. The eBay one is the more valuable one. Yet the Etsy listing is listed at the same price.

I recently came across another chain mail, about the numbers below plastic bottles we use. Every

plastic bottle has a number (generally within a triangle) written at the bottom, ranging from one to seven. Now this Hoax Chain Mail claims that the number indicates how many times that particular plastic is recycled in reverse order.

In reality the number registered has nothing to do with the number of times plastic has been recycled. It's just the type of plastic which is used for that particular bottle. 5 is polypropylene and 1 is PET that is polyethlyene terephthalate etc etc. The numbers below is useful while sorting the collected bottles while recycling. In other words it is plastic identification number.

1 - PET, polyethlyene terephthalate

2 - HDPE, high-density polyethylene

3 - PVC, polyvinyl chloride

4 - LDPE, low-density polyethylene

5 - PP, polypropylene

6 - PS/PS-E, polystyrene / expanded polystyrene

7 - OTHER, resins or multi-materials
