Opal Koboi was defeated as she was tricked by Artemis Fowl and team by secretly sending Mulch Diggums to steal the charges and hides it into Opals secret compartment purposely so that Opal and the Brill brothers think Artemis has it so they try to blow it but she escapes into the surface in a woman's grape farm where her magic fails to mesmerize her and she is stuck there to work till the LEP come to fetch her in prison.

Like the person said above, it will be at least 2 more years. Colfer finished the script in 2008, and claimed to be waiting for the "Green light". As it seems, two years later, planning is still being made. There is a debate whether the movie be animated or acted out. Also, with Colfer working on other projects (Plugged, Airman movie, and possibly AF book 8), it looks as if two years is unlikely the minimum. I'd say it comes out in 2015 late summer.

Supposedly it was supposed to come out years ago, but Hyperion and Disney had some arguments as how to go about it, what actors, special effects, and what scenes to adjust or cut out, and it ended up not happening. A couple of years later they decided to try again, but it ended in the same thing, so they just quit trying. There are rumors of another movie comany working with Hyperion (most likely Warner Bros.) but it's impossible to tell if the rumors are true or spun up by fans. It'd be great if they made it, but I doubt it'll happen for some time.
