What is Artemis Fowl The Atlantis Complex about?

User Avatar

Asked by FowlStarGurl

The Atlantis Complex is about Artemis having a fairy mental disorder called the atlantis complex. This includes having obsessive behavior, paranoia, delusions, and in extreme cases (which he is) multiple personality disorder. His new personality is "nice" Artemis, who cannot make plans to save the world from, as said in Eoin's interview, robots coming to probe Atlantis. Also, his other new personality is an annoying romantic, where in the most embarassing situations, proclaims his love for a certain LEP officer, which makes Kelp a little pissed off since he is also a little flirty with Holly.

Well, pretty much what happened was when they were coming back from Limbo, they went a few years ahead of what was originally planned. So pretty much they weren't around for a few years. Artemis was dropped off at butlers' private place, and Artemis is informed his parents have moved on and had twins. he decides he has to use the magic he has left from the time tunnel to make his parents forget he was gone for 3 years.

What are five songs that relate to Artemis Fowl The Lost Colony?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Cruella di vill

I say a good song to fit Artemis is "Man of the House". It's a good song for Artemis while his father was missing. There's an AMV on Youtube with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRJs-UO5fGo

"It's all comming back to me now" sort of depicts Artemis's and Holly's relationship....

"Bet on It." Perfect for Arty.

What is the climax of Artemis Fowl The Arctic incident?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Angeline Fowl contracts a debilitating disease, which Artemis can not heal with magic. Artemis desperately contacts Captain Holly Short and N˚1, in hopes that they will be able to shed some new light on his mother's condition. They determine Angeline is suffering from Spelltropy, a fairy disease that is spread through the use of magic, and can only be cured by the brain fluid of the silky sifaka lemur of Madagascar. Unfortunately, the lemur is extinct, due to a ruthless deal Artemis made 8 years ago with a group called the Extinctionists. Foaly tells him that his mother will die without the cure. Artemis pleads for N˚1 to open up the time stream, allowing him to save the lemur, and thus his mother. Foaly argues against the idea, saying that meddling with the past is far too risky, and could have drastic consequences for the present. Artemis however counters that if his mother's Spelltropy is not cured, then it may spread back to the fairies, and even humans. Also, Artemis argues for the theory that he supports, that if you go back into the past, then you have already been back in the past. He lies to Holly, by making her believe that she was the one who gave the illness to Angeline, which would make her honor bound to help him. With the threat of a Spelltropy outbreak threatening to not only affect fairies, but humans too, Foaly agrees that traveling back in time may be the only way save both the fairies and the humans. Artemis convinces N˚1 to use his magic to send him and Holly back in time so that he can rescue the lemur from himself. N˚1 warns them that after three days in the past, his magic may not be able to pull them back into the present. US cover, first edition.

They arrive eight years earlier in Angeline's bedroom. Artemis assures Holly that Butler will quietly slip the lemur into the room (to avoid Angeline seeing it) and that they will simply be able to leave. Butler however, does not act according to Artemis' predictions. He overhears their conversation and tranquilizes them with a dart gun. The younger Artemis Fowl is fascinated by the arrival of the two, especially Holly. He orders Butler to lock them in the trunk of the Fowl Bentley, where they will be secure so that he can further examine them once his deal with the Extinctionists is complete. Artemis and Holly manage to escape due to the timely arrival of a future friend, Mulch Diggums, and break into the compound housing the lemur. Artemis is injured and Holly rescues him and kisses him (though regrets it later when she finds out Artemis lied to her). Artemis manages to get the lemur, but is forced to release it. His younger self then sells the lemur to The Extinctionists". Artemis and Holly manage to get the lemur, but Holly is captured, and sold in place of the lemur by the younger Artemis. When plans are made to kill Holly at the annual Extinctionist banquet, Artemis manages to save her, but in the chaos he is thrown into a pit. Holly, escaping, realizes that the head of the Extinctionists has been mesmerized. Artemis is captured by Opal Koboi. She says that she has mesmerized the Extinctionists to bring her the lemur which will give her the ability to control time. Artemis manages to escape. Holly and Artemis fly to Fowl Manor, but are followed by Koboi. Upon being intercepted by his younger counterpart, Artemis reveals his identity. Holly and Artemis return to the present with the lemur. He is about to administer the cure to his mother when he finds that Koboi has possessed his mother and also caused the sickness in the first place (soon after a mesmerised Butler appears, and captures Holly and N˚1 in a vat of animal fat). As Koboi gloats, Artemis reveals that he is in fact the Artemis from the past. The older Artemis does battle with the real Opal and tranquilises her. Opal recovers quickly and flees; however, realising that Artemis and his forces have been significantly weakened in the battle, she returns. Artemis takes Jayjay and flies away from the Manor grounds in a plane, luring Opal away. In the ensuing chase, Opal exhibits astonishing strength, pulverising entire sections of the plane with her fists, eventually forcing Artemis to crash land on the coastline which results in his collarbone being broken. Artemis escapes from the wreckage of the plane and runs to the shore, ascending a rope bridge and crossing over two large boulders. Opal relentlessly pursues him, eventually obtaining Jayjay, only to discover that it's not actually Jayjay, but Artemis' little brother's play-thing, Professor Primate. Artemis shoots the boulder which Opal is standing on and which is revealed to be the shell of a kraken. The shell explodes and Opal is buried beneath the rubble. When a Lower Elements Police team search for her, they find she has disappeared. Artemis debriefs the others and finds that his mother knows everything that happened to her. The 10-year-old Artemis has his mind wiped and is sent back in time by N˚1(10-year-old Artemis has a spell in his eyes that will erase Butler's memory), but begins to think about fairies, creating a circular timeline.

Artemis is the Greek goddess of the Hunt, virginity and the moon. Artemis Fowl is a boy genius in a series of books by Eoin Colfer. If you read the fifth book, the girl genius is named Minerva, the roman goddess of wisdom. In the third book, Fowl makes a reference to the goddess, [SPOILER ALERT] right before he defeats Spiro.

What did Foaly used to wear on his head in 'Artemis Fowl'?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Artemis Fowl the second is described to have raven hair, pale skin, and deep blue eyes. He is also described to have a "vampire smile." The reason behind why he has pale skin is due to the countless hours he spent indoors, in front of the computer screen. Artemis always dresses quite well, in suits and such. In book five he ends up getting his index and middle fingers switched, in addition to having one hazel eye, and one blue eye. It is also said his eyes get darker when he lies.

There is also a graphic novel. There are artist depictions of all of the characters from the first book are represented. To see Artemis check the related link below.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I have 4 favourite characters in that book. First Holly Short, I think she's a wonderful character. Artemis is obviously one of my favourites, too. And I must say that I really love Mulch and Foaly. I prefer Holly Short because she is really determined like Artemis Fowl. Holly Short is quick witted when she is in danger.

Is Artemis Fowl a mystery book?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depends on the type you like to read. It is very entertaining and funny. It is a total fantasy story, which I love 'cause fantasy is my favorite. If you don't like fantasy, then don't read it.

Another:

I liked it, because it had the three things I like in a book: an adequate story, humor, and gunfights. :)

Another:

I liked to gape at the prepared and advance mind of Artemis and the action. I await the movie with bated breath.

Another: No, It Is actually quite boring it's got all fairies and gay, girly stuff like that. I had read it in welsh and it's crap.

Another: I don't appreciate that last opinion, but hey, it's your life. Personally, I think the Artemis Fowl series is an entertaining, action-y story with a lot of humor, wit, and unexpected things. I would definitely recommend it to someone who enjoys fantasy.

Is Artemis Fowl real?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

As like all characters in fiction books, they are made up from the author's imagination, so no, they are not real. although it does say on the blurb of most of his books something about Eoin Colfer being his biographer. I personally would really like it if the characters were real. heheh.

They are real in your world and in Eoin Colfer's world!

And my world.

What happened in Artemis Fowl chapter 1?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In chapter nine of the the first Artemis Fowl book 'Ace in the Hole', Commander Root, of the LEP, agrees to give Artemis one metric tonne of gold in exchange Captain Holly Short. Root is not overly worried about this, as he is certain that the 'Bio Bomb' the LEP plan to detonate in Artemis' home will kill all of the inhabitants, allowing the gold to be reclaimed.

Butler, Artemis' body guard, is unwilling to further partake in holding Holly ransom, as she saved his life in the previous chapter. Artemis assures him that she will come to no harm, and that she WILL be returned home. Butler is also worried about the Bio Bomb and the safety of his sister, Juliet, but Artemis is confident in his ability to evade death. Butler trusts his judgment.

Acting Commander Cudgeon is upset that his plan to kill everyone inside Fowl Manor with a troll was thwarted by Holly, and tries to blame Root for failure. Unfortunately, the disk of the troll attack was 'lost' and he had no proof. He was demoted 'accidentally' shot with a stunning finger gun by Root.

The gold is delivered. While Artemis and co. are waiting for the trolley to arrive, Holly tries to get Artemis to surrender in order to save Butler and Juliet from their impending doom. The offer is declined.

Artemis declares the gold to be legit, but decides he doesn't need all of it and gives back half return for a wish from Holly.

Artemis knocks Butler, Juliet, and himself out with tranquillizer disguised in

champagne.

The house is bombed.

They wake up.

They have escaped the time field by changing their state of mind from awake to asleep, and therefore escaped the bomb.

The fairies come into Fowl Manor when the time field is still in effect (the Bio Bomb affects only living tissue) and are overcome by nausea, thus confirming that Artemis Fowl had survived and succeeded in being the first human to part a fairy from it's gold.

Angeline Fowl, Artemis' mother, comes down from her room for the first time in years. She tells Artemis she is sorry, and that things will be better from now on. The wish Artemis bought from Holly was his mother's health.
