What two components make up the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)?
an interest inventory and a cognitive ability test A+
previous guy didn't even answer the question, nor did he give the a+ answer. this answer is right.
yes it is relatively good. a 31 is required and the national average is 41. so really its above average
What subject do you need to work on most on the ASVAB if you want special forces?
Selection to the Special Forces is not solely dependent on your ASVAB Score and there is no one section of the test to focus your attention on. Rather, the ASVAB Requirement for the Special Forces is a GT or General Technical score of at least 110. The GT is a composite taken from several areas of the test. To get a good score in this area you should seek to do your best in all portions of the test. A good test preparation strategy would be to visit your local library and check out several ASVAB Test books which are published by at least 3 or 4 different companies. Practice taking the ASVAB Test, treating yourself the same way that the test proctors will do, that is sitting up straight at a desk or table, setting a clock alarm and stopping at the ringing of the alarm. Your goal will be to finish as many questions as possible (correctly) by the time the alarm goes off. Once finished, you should carefully grade your test, then for each incorrect answer you should read the explanation for that question and the various answers given to understand what was the correct answer and why you got it wrong. For the ASVAB, wrong answers do not count against you (unlike the SAT), so when you get a question that you do not know, you should try to make the best guess you can, and mark the question so that you can read up on the subject to better prepare you for the next try. You should practice taking the ASVAB Test 2 or 3 times per week, ideally alternating between the various preparation books in order to get the broadest range of questions. Finally on ASVAB Test Day, you will find that you are confident and prepared, and after about four or five questions you will likely find a question that you recognize nearly verbatim and you will instantly know the answer and this will help you to relax and breeze through the remainder of the test.
How hard is the qc for security forces?
A QC for a duty position in Security Forces is as hard as the amount of effort put into studying the material. While easier positions such as the entry level position of Entry Controller merely requires the most basic job knowledge along with some job knowledge of the local OI or Base policies; a higher level position such as Desk Sargeant or Flight Chief requires a more in depth and intimate knowledge of the forms and wide range of possible encounters a SF member might encounter, These tests are summed up in written, verbal, and a practical application.
Do you think a person is stupid if he gets a practice ASVAB score 14 the first time?
it is not our job to say whether or not a person is stupid. but statistically, a 14 is not a very good score for the ASVAB test.
What do you have to score on an ASVAB to become an E4?
Becoming an E4 is not based on your ASVAB score. If you are talking about enlisting as an E4, you must have a Bachelor's degree. You can also become an E4 by enlisting and doing a good job and putting your time in.
What is the score on the ASVAB for a GT score of 100?
Go to your education center and sign up for the FAST Class.
82 percent on the ASVAB what does this mean?
You answered more questions than 82% of the people in your age group that took the test.
Is scoring a 53 on the ASVAB good?
It really depends on what you are wanting to do and the branch that you are looking to join.
I know that when I was enlisting a 53 was a great score for the army and the marines, it was marginal for the Navy and I dont think that the air force would have taken me. This was four years ago and I do not know what the standard scores are now. This is not saying that any branch is better, just based on the job offerings that there are. There are plenty of jobs that you will be able to have with a 53 in any branch.
Good luck and congratulations on considering to join the military, if you do your life will never be the same.
You'll need a Skilled Technical line score of 95 to qualify for MP. You should see the Skilled Technical Score (ST) score on your scoresheet but it's made up of your scores on the General Science (GS), Verbal Expression (VE), Mathematics Knowledge (MK), and Mechanical Comprehension (MC) subtests.
Is the ASVAB based on a fourth grade level?
No, some questions are easy, some aren't. You most likely won't know everything. It's meant to make you think.
What happens if you fail the drug test at the ASVAB and physical point in joining the military?
You are really stupid.. (sorry but you don't have to be a genius to pass) you have to get more than one third of the questions right, you can get 2/3 of them wrong and still pass, though you won't get the job that you want. If you fail, your recruiter can reschedule you and you can take it again. (expect this time study for it.)
No. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is offered to High School students, and others interested in the armed forces. But it is completly volontary and not required.
What is a passing ASVAB score?
There is not a pass or fail score, but individuals will need to obtain at least a 31.
Can you score above a 110 on the ASVAB?
ASVAB scores are measured as percentiles. If you score a 33, that means you are in the 33rd percentile, and did better on the test than 32 percent of the people. If you got a 99, that means you did better than 98 percent of the people.
I am not seeing how it is possible to score a 110 on that basis. However, things change, so you may wish to contact your local recruiter, and ask him.
Is the questions out of the book ASVAB for dummies on the actual ASVAB?
None of the practice test questions you'll find in study guides or online are from the actual test. The military makes it very clear what format and type of questions are on the test so the creators of practice tests take that information and create their own questions that mimic those found on the actual test.
So, they're good for studying but they're not the questions on the actual ASVAB.
What does AQE or ASVAB score mean?
AQE SCORES sets procedures for retraining people to meet Air Force mission requirements and specifies
voluntary retraining for active duty airmen that meet quality standards. It implements the retraining
policy found in Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 36-26, Military Force Management.
What is the average ASVAB score?
Military entrance is based on your AFQT which is a combination of 4 of the ASVAB tests - Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Math Knowledge and Arithmetic Reasoning. You score is compared to a nationally representative sample of 18-23 year olds. Your score is a percentile. For example an AFQT of 45 means that you scored as well a or better than 45% of the people in this nationally representative group of youth.
The services require an AFQT of 31, except for the Air Force which requires 36. In good recruiting times the services can be more selective, so you want to be sure to get your best score. You need to study and prepare for the test.
The most recommended study guide is McGraw-Hill's ASVAB which has a comprehensive review of the content areas found of the ASVAB, 4, full length practice tests, and lots of study tips. It also contains lots of information about each of the services, their requirements and career and training opportunities.
What is the highest possible GT score?
I just took the ASVAB and I have also been looking around to find the highest possible GT score. I believe it to be 130. The GT component is calculated by adding WK to the AR. Now I believe (*BELIEVE not KNOW*) the maximum you can score in either component is 65. 65+65=130. I have read this on many sites and they have a wide variety of scores. I do not work for the DOD, actually haven't signed any papers yet. This is what I believe to be true 130. The component values may actually grade up to 70; 70+70=140. I have read this also. My recruiter will not tell me. He doesn't tell me much. At all. I think it's because he can't tell me; not that he doesn't want to tell me. I am looking at my 'unofficial report' right now. They printed it out right after they officially put my scores in the computer at MEPS. Your GT isn't everything, although it is a lot and will make or break your chances of doing what you want. If you want to be a pilot chances are your GT doesn't mean zip if you don't smoke the AFAST or know someone important who likes you enough to help you. If you have a menial GT and have connections well BOOM! there you go. What you worried about son? At the end of the day what you know will only get you so far, it will eventually become about who you know. So get references! Get some extra curricular activities. Not an athlete, you're probably out of luck if you don't have the GT. Because you will also have to take and pass a PFT. Why do I mention this? They weigh you as an overall person not just a GT score. Unless your GT is low.
Well I don't know the max for sure, but my GT is 139. I've never met anyone higher. I believe in the day of paper tests the max was 130. Since the computerized ASVAB gets increasingly difficult if you do well, they upped the maximum.
I took the asvab when I enlisted in 1976, and my GT score was 141. I have been looking around to try and figure out what the max is (or was then) and have read 130 and 140 a few times. Obviously something is off or the scoring has changed since then.
The max has changed from year to year depending on what was needed to fill certain jobs. It is a game the higher echelons play to fill slots without lowering standards. It actually goes up and down. Most recruiters only know for the time they are serving their special assignment. The max has been from 130 up to 160, I believe. I have a 129 for the time frame that the test was scored at a 130. Now it's common to see 143 and 139.
I joined US Army in Dec 1973. Basic at Ft Dix; AIT at Ft Ben Harrison; reg duty station USAREUR, Hanau, Germany w the 3rd ADA. When I got to Bn HQ, the personnel clerk (an E-4 who was 4 months short) fairly flipped out & said I'd gotten a 160 on my GT score & in all his time he'd never seen a score that high. I didn't realize I'd maxed the test until he pointed it out. But he was correct. My battery aptitude score on the GT shows as 160. But it's not the GT score or IQ that matters, it's what you do with it that matters. Plenty of 110 GT people (just taking a number to make a point) who outperform many so called geniuses. IQ is something you're proud of when you're young but as you get older & wiser, you realize drive, ambition, ingenuity, integrity etc. count for way more than IQ/intelligence level.
I enlisted in the Army in 1977 after graduating college. I was told that I had a GT score of 141 and missed one question in the battery of tests. So I am interested in the highest one can get as a GT score. I then took the D-Lat test and passed that to be a Russian cryptologist (although I could have chosen Swahili or Mandarin Chinese as well). However, I didn't want to do 4 years, so I became an MP instead.
I just took the ASVAB today and got a GT score of 141. I'm 90% confident I got at least 2 sections completely correct and they posted scores of 141 so that may be the highest score possible.
I took the test in 1974 and got a score of 159. I met one other soldier whose score was 159 and I was told by the Operations NCO that the max score was 160. I have sent for documentation of my score and when I get it I will be joining the Triple Nine Society.
The calculation for GT scoring has changed over the years. Someone who scored a 150 in the 1970s would today score somewhere in the 130s. I'm not sure what the highest possible is, but the highest I have seen is 143. I scored a 134 and made a 99 overall.
Just took the ASVAB March 2010, and my AFQT was 99 with a GT (Army) 146.
I took the ASVAB with the Marine Corps in September 2009 and got a 99 AFQT and a 146 GT. My instructor at MOS school (data tech) said it was the highest he's ever seen and that the max was 150.
Took the AFQT in 07, got a 97 overall, GT: 150, MM: 155, CL: 125, EL: 133.
150 is the highest I or anyone I know has ever seen (I don't really remember taking the test, guess I got lucky and fell asleep on the right keys.) and yes, those are the Marine Corps scores, off my MOL page, don't remember now what the other services' scores were on the little paper they give you at meps.
GSTETSON: I took the ASVAB back in 1983 when I joined the Army and I have a GT score of 155 and it's even documented on my DD214 which I just recently received a copy of after 25 years. I'm not sure what the highest score is but no one ever told me my score was high. I did, however, have the option of ANY MOS i wanted when I enlisted.
How long do you have to take the ASVAB test?
There is no specific time limit for the entire test. There are nine separate sections in the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery); each with its own time limit:
