Wings provide what is commonly known as downforce. This form of drag forces the cars into the ground when the car is traveling at significant speed, and increases as a function of speed. This downward force allows much more grip in turns due to the car "weighing" more as it is pushed into the car, because friction is equal to the coeficient of friction multiplied by the weight of the object (Or force adhering the surfaces together). So, although they do indeed make the cars go faster around turns, these wings significantly reduce top speed as well as acceleration due to the tremendous drag that they produce.

The second fastest car in the world is the Bugatti Veyron, at 253 miles per hour, it falls second losing to the SSC Ultimate aero topping out at 255 miles per hour. in 2010 bugatti realsed the bugatti veyron ss (super sport) which can go to 264 I think.

NO! They are two completely different things. Firstly a NASCAR is like a stock car, but faster. A formula one car is and open wheel racer. NASCAR also race around a oval of track, in formula one they race around differntly designed tracks for around 60-70 laps, while NASCAR race up to 300 or more laps, but not often

Yes, nascar race cars have a reverse. They are standard 4-speed Manual transmissions, in a not-so-standard car.

They are anything but standard four-speeds. Everyone uses Jerico transmissions, which are made for ease of changing the gear cluster. If you want a different gear ratio in the car, you open the little door in the floorplan, open the top of the transmission, and do your work. Very simple and direct. They also definitely have reverse.

Although NASCAR means stock car racing, the cars now do not represent the car on the label on the grill.

An old hot rodder's trick from back in the day was put a spark plug right at the exhaust outlet. It's a bit of a task to mount it, and a bit more of one to fire it (don't mess with the vehicle high voltage system to do this), but it worked quite well. It isn't as dramatic as the flames the special effects (fx) dudes rig up 'cause they have large budgets and can actually mount injectors coupled to a fuel source back there as well as the firing mechanism, but it works. Be smart about this. The vehicle code places limits on this kind of thing. Oh, and IT CAN BE DANGEROUS! Think things through.

Here's the theory. There is a fair amount of unburned fuel (or, more properly, partially combusted fuel) in the exhaust stream, and the air that is injected into the exhaust header by the "smog pump" on newer cars (to aid in a bit more combustion for cleaner exhaust) will make for a nice show at the exhaust outlet. One more time: be smart about this. Ask around. Above all, be safe. You can be killed or injured fooling around with stuff that lies far outside your knowledge and experience. (Be honest with yourself.) And the chance for some major property damage looms high for the foolhardy. Do your homework. You been warned, ait?

Flame Thrower Kit Info

Here is a list of items you will need:

1. You will need a relay that they use at the stereo shop for alarms, make sure the relay has the numbers 87, 87a, 86, 85, 30 on it, if it doesn't then that is the wrong relay.

2. Go to Autozone or other parts store and get an old style coil that has the positive and negative on it just like the one from the old Ford F-150. If you go to Autozone, the part number is C-819 coil.

3. Coil wire for the coil about 3 feet long or longer if you can get it.

4. Spark plug.

5. A momentary switch.

6. Roll of 14 gauge wires in color Green, Blue, Black, Red, and Yellow

7. Wire connectors.

8. Black electrical tape.

How To Make The "Fire Box"

1. Take all the color wires and cut a piece of about 1 feet long of all colors. You should have 5 pieces of wire in 5 different colors.

2. Place the connectors on all 5 wires.

3. Connect the Green wire to # 87A on the relay.

4. Connect the Yellow wire to #87

5. Connect the Black wire to #86

6. Connect the Red wire to #85

7. Connect the Blue wire to #30

If you are going to sell the item, go to Radio Shack and get what is called a Project Box so you can put it inside that box and fill the box up with fiber glass resin so if they try to open it they will have to break it and will not know how to make one. :-)

Your fire box is ready. Make sure all wires are in the right numbers or it will not work right with these instructions.

Installing The Kit

1. Find a location for the relay or fire box under the dashboard.

2. Open your hood and look for your car's coil.

3. Once you find it you will have to look for the negative wire of your cars coil. The easiest way to do this is to take the coil you got from the store and connect 2 wires to it. Connect the coil wire to the coil and the spark plug to it. Now take the wire that is connect to the positive side of the coil and connect it to the battery. The ground side you will use to find what wire in your car's coil will make it spark.

4. Make a small slice cut on all the wires coming from your car to your car's coil (don't cut them). Start you car's motor and take the ground wire from the store coil and touch each one of the wires on your car coil till you see that the spark plug is firing. Once you've found it, cut engine off. Cut that wire.

5. Run a wire from your car's coil side of the car to where your relay or fire box will be located and connect it to the Green wire on the relay.

6. The wire that was coming from the car to the car's coil, run a wire from there to the relay and connect it to the Blue wire on the relay.

7. Find an ignition wire in your car (power when you turn the key) connect the ignition wire to the Red wire on the relay.

8. Mount your Switch, one side to ground on the car and the other to Black wire on relay.

9. Mount your store coil in the trunk close to your exhaust, drill a hole in your trunk, then drill a hole about 6 inches behind your exaust or muffler for the spark plug (becareful not to make it too big)

10. Run a wire from your car battery to the coil in the trunk, positive side of the coil.

11. Run the Yellow wire on the relay to the rear coil, negative side.

12. Start your car, in park. Take the engine to about 5,000 RPM and press and hold the switch, the engine should start to stall and and smile, YOU'VE GOT FLAMES!!!!!!!.

No Flames?

1. Try changing the wires around for the Green and Blue.

2. Make sure your engine is running rich.

3. Make sure the spark plug is firing (take it out and test it outside don't try to look in your exhaust)

4. Make sure you have no Catalytic Converter

The one that is most likely to ever compete in F1 racing is probably Danica Patrick, currently competing in the IndyCar series. The USGPE team that will probably enter the F1 racing scene in 2010 has shown interest in her, but she stated that she wants to focus on IndyCar.

I think it would be very interesting if women would finally compete in F1. Women are usually lighter than men, which is a big advantage in terms of balance of the car. Robert Kubica stated that his car felt a lot better after he lost 5kg of bodyweight.

There have been five female drivers in Formula 1 in the past, however. The first was Maria Teresa de Filippi in 1958, the second Lella Lombardi from 1974 - 1976. These were the only female racers to qualify for a Formula 1 race, and Lella Lombardi is the only one to score (half a point at the 1975 Spanish GP, driving a Cosworth engined March). Divina Galica (1976-78), Desire Wilson (1979) and Giovanna Amati (1992) also entered, but all failed to qualify.
