What transmission is better the thm350 powerglide thm400 or the 700r4 its going to be used in a el camino for drag racing?

out of the two, you'll find that the thm400 is a better transmission all around. it was a more heavy duty built transmission than the thm350, and it does last a lot longer. we had built up a 77 gmc sierra classic with a 350 4 bolt, and it was pushing near 500 hp. tore apart 3 thm350's before going that little bit bigger, never had a problem with the used 400 we bought. just from my experience, the 400 is a better transmission, a little harder to come by, but much worth looking

Is there a fuel limit in NASCAR?

There is a limit on the amount of fuel a driver can carry. A standard NASCAR fuel cell is 22 gallons, but they can mandate a smaller cell for any race. They also set the size and length of the lines that run between the fuel cell and the engine, and also the path the lines take through the car. They do this because Richard Petty once presented a car that had the fuel lines routed through the frame rails to make the car neater...but when they checked further they found the frame of his car was full of gasoline. When they told him he couldn't do that, he presented a car for inspection the next week that used fifty feet of fire hose as a fuel line.

There is no limit as to the amount of fuel a driver can use. In IndyCar they've always had a tank of fuel sitting in the pits and when it was empty you couldn't race anymore. NASCAR doesn't think that's safe, so each track they use has a gas station in the infield where teams pick up fuel after each pit stop.

How to determine Drag Racing winner?

There are two types of drag racing. First off there is what is called a pro start, or pro tree. Those classes are run heads up, start out even, and barring a red light, starting too soon, or before the green light comes on, the first to the finish line wins. The other type is called bracket racing. You make a couple of passes to see what your car runs, et wise. Then, you put a time on the windshield. It is a time that is close to what you run. Not too much faster, because that time determines how much of a headstart either car gets. But, not too slow, because if you go faster than that time, you break out, and are disqualified. Consistency is the key to bracket racing.

Can you turbocharge a V8 using only one exhaust manifold...one exhaust pipe?

Although most v-8 single turbocharger applications do use only one side of the exhaust manifold for the mounting, They all are connected to the other one by means of a crossover pipe or some other means of conveyance to get the exhaust from the other side of the engine to the mounting side. Tthis allows for an even distribution of the entire exhaust flow to the turbocharger. I have heard of some early European auto manufacturers that used a divided exhaust system to split the turbo and nonturbo banks of an engine, but I know of no way to use only one bank to power a blower on any modern v-8. I am sure it could be done, But to what end? And why would you want to only use half of the engines output in the first place? I my own experience, I am using two garret turbochargers from two Toyota supras to supercharge my American v-8 but in this case each turbo is connected to one bank of cylinders and connected on the pressure side and the exhaust side to even out the pressure delivered to the engine. And this is done only after some carefull tuning to make sure that the turbos are putting out even amounts of boost individually before they are connected. Its a lot of work but my engine is making around 1200 hp and I think it is worth the bother. Hope this helped.
