When can you go on pointe?

My teacher recommends going on when you start 6th grade.

Teachers may vary with when you should go on. But you can always ask.

But in any case you should always have experience in dance; and you must have strong ankles.

I would recommend starting Pointe when you are in 6th grade. It is the just right age.

Reference: I started at that grade.

Hope this helps.

Emotional songs to dance to?

I have a few songs that may help. If your dance is Lyrical, Comtempory Ballet or Modern, then I have a few good songs that are emotional:

Adele

Set Fire To the Rain

Turning Tables

Shontelle

Impossible

Beyonce

Halo

Best Thing I Never Had

Save the Hero

If I Were A boy

I Care

Alicia Keys

Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart

Jessie J

I Need This

Pink

Family Portrait

Perfect

Obviously, these songs are not for Classical Ballet, but if you needed an emotional classical song, I would recommend sound tracks like Avatar, Chronicals of Narnia and Finding Nemo, as they are dramatic, happy and sad classical pieces that are also modern.

If ballet is a dance and dance is a sport does that mean ballet is a sport?

Although people may think of ballet as a sport, surprisingly and technically dance is a performing art, not a sport. However, dance as well as specifically ballet requires energy, you also have to make it look easy and flawless, which makes it harder than all sports. This is because dance and ballet is not done to win but to become stronger and entertain. Those who compete might be able to say it's a sport, however this isn't the primary idea of ballet. Ballet is generally known as an art form because of it's beauty and style, this is the same with many other styles of dance.

Does dancing in point shoes hurt?

Dancing on pointe all depends on how long you have been dancing and how strong you are. You should have dance experience in flat shoe ballet before doing pointe and NEVER TRY POINTE WITHOUT LESSONS, THIS CAN RUIN YOUR FEET! Be sure you are 11 years or older before you begin, your ankles will be developed by then. Do not try anything that really hurts and never do anything you don't know how to do without your instructor. Wear some kind of toe protector when you are dancing on pointe like a gel pad. Good luck and enjoy your dancing!

DOES DANCING IN POINTE SHOES HURT YOUR FEET? For me, it didn't hurt, and still doesn't too bad. For everyone in my class, it hurt, and their feet bleed. It just depends.

Your ballet exam is today should you be nervous?

Try not to be. Being nervous will show, and you want to dance with confidence. Being confident that you can do the ballet or moves assigned will show - as long as you are not too cocky about it - and can benefit you. Being nervous can make you jittery and anxious, which isn't good for concentration. Have faith that you will succeed. Often believing that you can accomplish something is one of the first steps in actually doing so! It is natural to be nervous before any exam or performance, but try not to let it overcome the best of you. Good Luck!

What do ballet dancers wear on stage?

A tutu, which means a short, full skirt. Or it depends on what the theme of your dance is.
