Instruments were by Richard Dick (guitar maker) in Markneukirchen , Germany, manufactured. The company was founded in 1885 in Markneukirchen. The owners of the Company were in 1926 and 1930 Richard and Dick Bruno (maker and dealer). It have not only built guitars, but also string instruments (violins, violas, banjos and cello s) and woodwind instruments.

John Hartford played the backup banjo during the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, but, as seen on You Tube, both Tommy (born 02/02/37) and Dick (born 11/20/39) Smothers could play the banjo. Do keep in mind the banjo playing was for serious music and not "part of the act". Generally you will see Tommy with the guitar and Dick with the bass in any of their comedy routines.
