For youth Baseball it probably doesn't make that much difference, but for adult baseball (high school ball and higher), metal baseball cleats are allowed and are more effective than plastic football cleats. Plus, they don't wear down as easily.

The idea behind MLB revenue sharing is to take money away from teams that make a lot of money and give it to teams that don't make a lot of money. This is done in an attempt to lessen the difference in the amount of money the richest teams make, and subsequently can spend, in comparison to the poorest teams. Through the end of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (2011 season), all 30 teams pay 31 percent of their local revenues into a pot each season. This pot is then evenly distributed among the 30 teams. A team in New York or Chicago will pay more into this pot than a team in Tampa Bay or Kansas City. MLB distributes a portion of their Central Fund, which is comprised from sources like the television contract with the various networks, among the 30 teams with the teams that have the lowest revenues getting the most money. There is also a 'luxary tax' where a team must pay into a pot a percentage on the portion of their payroll that exceeds a pre-set limit. The Yankees usually have to put money into this pot due to exceeding the pre-set limit on payrolls ... in the 2008 season, the Yankees contributed $21.6 million into this pot. This money is distributed to teams with lower payrolls.

According to the Society for American Baseball Research, there have been 13 unassisted triple plays in MLB since 1876, the first being in 1909. That would make the odds of an unassisted triple play about 1 in every 10 years. Interestingly, these things seem to come in groups. Six of the thirteen came in the 1920s. Three of the thirteen have come in the 2000s. And on top of that, there were unassisted triple plays on successive days in 1927. On May 30, 1927 shortstop Jimmy Cooney of the Chicago Cubs turned an unassisted triple play against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The very next day first baseman Johnny Neun of the Detroit Tigers turned an unassisted triple play against the Cleveland Indians. There have been several great players to have come through Boston. Cy Young, Carl Yastrzemski, and even Babe Ruth just to name a few. if i were to pick the greatest red sox player of all time, it would be Ted Williams hands down. But if i were to pick the best current red sox player i would have to chose Manny Ramirez. He has been a consistent batter throughout his career, with a Career BA over .300. He is on the list of top home run hitters of all time, and he is always clutch. I think he's second on the all time grand-slam list.

Haha, first off they don't burn it off. It is pine tar that's caked onto the helmet in addition to dirt from the field. They do it so they have sticky pine tar on their helmet to reach up and touch to keep their hands sticky and more comfort on bat. Also, they do it because it looks cool. Half of baseball is looking good.
