Airsoft guns are searchable by serial number but usually by brand. Try looking around and in the gun for trademarks of any kind. Any markings or anything like that and then go take pictures of them, post them on a well known airsoft forum, and you're likely to get good results.

on top of the scope is the brightness and on/off switch. the top of that comes off when you twist it and the you put your batteries in there

In general scopes are not very useful in Paintball due to the relative inaccuracy of the Paintball itself and the tunnel vision effect of the scope. but if your Paintball gun had weaver or 3/8 rails, you can mount whatever scope (or sight, a better option) you wanted on it

Yes, New Zealand teenagers are allowed BB guns that are not very high velocity (e.g gas or electric). Most leading brands will have an age limit for their BB guns and that will still be a factor if you are trying to buy one.
