Is a 140x200cm bed a double bed?

So I would say if the frame is big enough, go for a queen mattress since the length will fit, but it will be hanging just a tiny bit too big. Same for bedding materials... Full wouldn't fit since it's narrower and shorter.
Will a square yard of mulch fit in a half ton pickup bed?
This question is a little ambiguous because it can be a question of 1) volume IF you know how deep the square yard of mulch is. Even up to one yard (3 feet) deep will definitely fit.
2) area IF you want to cover up exactly one square yard of truckbed, which seems like it has very limited potentials. Provided you do not have some sort of huge toolbox taking up floorspace, you will definitely be able to do this as well.

Best thing to take into account when buying a matress is comfort. If you are not comfortable laying on it you will not be comfortable sleeping on it.

How does a self-inflating camp mattress inflate itself?
Self inflating camping mattresses are filled with open cell foam. Open cell means the air in the bubbles is not permanently trapped but can be pushed in and out of the bubbles. This foam is made from a flexible and durable plastic with a strong "memory" so that it tries to return to the same shape after pressure is removed.
When the mattresses air vents are opened on a deflated mattress, the pressure of the foam trying to revert to its expanded shape pulls air in to the mattress. The vents are then closed and the trapped air inside the mattress provides support for people lying on the mattress.

Elevate your bed base. Wood "bricks" do nicely, but you will want to put some padding around them so it doesn't hurt so much when you accidently kick one.

Is a foundation necessary for a memory foam mattress?
No but it makes a HUGE difference. If you put a memory foam pad down on the ground or on some cushions or even on an air mattress, you will not be very satisfied. Although there is an improvement, you need a regular box spring + mattress for a memory foam pad to provide its full (and very comfortable) effect.

Yes, you can be allergic to your mattress or to something in your mattress.
If you are allergic to dust mites then the mattress should be covered with an all over dust mite cover.
If you are allergic to latex and the mattress is an old latex one, there may be fine particles of latex coming out of it.
