Black Mamba

Black mambas are the longest venomous snakes in Africa. They can measure over 8 feet (over 2 meters) long and despite their length, black mambas can be extremely fast when they feel threatened. What is the most venomous snake?

The most venomous snake on earth is the Belcher's Sea Snake (Hydrophis Belcheri) or the Faint Banded Sea Snake, some consider the Inland Taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus) an/or the Beaked Sea Snake (Enhydrina schistosa) to be the most toxic, however, with recent and more accurate studies prove the Belcheri has a 100 times more toxic venom then the two above or any other snake on earth.

It has a paddle-like tail, breathes air and can hold it's breath up to 8 hours, a few milligrams of venom can kill over a thousand people.

It's habitat is a wide range in the South Pacific.

Excluding the Belcher's Sea Snake the next most venomous snakes on earth according to their venom rating are:

2- Inland Tiapan (Oxyuranus Microlepidotus).

3- Common Indian Krait (Bungarus Caeruleus).

4- Philippine Cobra (Naja Philippinensis).

5- King Cobra (Ophiophagus Hanna).

6- Russell's Viper (Vipera Russellii).

7- Black Mamba (Dendroaspis Polylepis).

8- Yellow Jawed Tommygoff (Bothrops Asper).

9- Multibanded krait (Bungarus Multicinctus).

10- Tigar Snake (Notechis Scutatus).

11- Jararacussu (Bothrops Jararacussu).
Snakes aren't poisonous they are venomous. Poison has to be consumed in order to kill. venom does not work that way. Venom ha to be injected into your bloodstream. That's why snakes bite. It can be shot into your eyes which is connected directly to your brain, so that explains the spitting cobra's venomous spit. i know this because i am a marine biologist and ophiologist (a scientist that studies snakes).

The Inland Taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus), also known as the Small Scaled Snake and Fierce Snake, is regarded as the most venomous land snake in the world.

The most venomous snake is the Papuan Taipan.

the above response is incorrect.

As detailed on Wikipedea and other sources it clearly states the the most venomous Snake in the world is the Belchers sea snake.

for most of us this is not the answer we are really looking for . What we are looking for is what is the most venomous LAND snake in the world.

The land snake in question is the fierce snake ( also known as the Inland Taipan . This snake has enough venom to kill about 100 human adults but will rarely actually inject venom as it takes a lot of energy to produce its venom and would rather 'scare' a threat away with a bite than actually kill it.

The Belchers Sea Snake by comparison could kill - with a few milligrams of venom over 1000 human adults. The issue though for this particular snake is that it has a very small mouth -- and is really not interested in trying to 'chase and eat' a human.

Yes,search up the answer you will get the Belcher snake.

answer number two: I've heard many many sayings sayings on what is the most poisonous snake in the world. One that I personally think is the most poisonous snake is the BLACK MUMBA, which lives in Africa. So don't worry unless you live in spacific parts of Africa.
Australian Brown
The Belcher's sea snake (Hydrophis Belcheri) is probably the most venomous snake but it only most venomous when considered in water, though testing is imperfect and for now no one can be certain. The Beaked sea snake (Enhydrina schistosa) is another candidate. The Inland Taipan(Oxyuranus microlepidotus) is also cited regularly, but is probably only the most venomous land snake. The LD50 value of its venom on mice is .2microgrm/grm.Few drops of its venom can kill 100 people or 250,000 mice.

Excluding the Belcher's Sea Snake the next most venomous snakes on earth according to their venom rating are:

2- Inland Taipan (Oxyuranus Microlepidotus).

3- Common Indian Krait (Bungarus Caeruleus).

4- Philippine Cobra (Naja Philippinensis).

10- Tiger Snake (Notechis Scutatus).

11- Jararacussu (Bothrops Jararacussu).

Black Mambas breed only once a year. Breeding season is in Spring which is around the month of September. Eggs develop for around 60 days inside the female. After that, the female seeks a suitable place (like an abandoned termite mound) to lay its eggs. Around 15 to 25 eggs are laid and guarded aggressively by the Mother. Eggs incubate for around 60 days before hatching. The young ones are about 50 cms in length at birth and are totally independent. They hunt and feed for themselves right from day one. They are also venomous at birth. Though their venom is as toxic as the adults, the quantity is much lower.
