How does infection get into your body?

The minute little viruses fly through your nose, mouth or any other openings in your body, especially through cuts and grazes (so that's why your mum tells you wear a plaster!) and they attack your body. Your immune system identifies them after a while (it's like they're in disguise) and then it kills them, pretty quickly depending on how big the virus is. Hop i helped with that long over due science HW sitting at the back of the cupboard! Bye!

What is the highest temp the human body can withstand before it would cause death?

No sensible answer available unless duration is specified, and preferably also whether in air or liquid, and clothed or not. A sauna can hold 100 deg C (130 deg F)and is survivable for at least 30 minutes unprotected. Firefighters regularly gets exposed to several times that temperature and walk away none the worse.

What is a temperature control?

a temperature control system relies upon a controller, which accepts a temperature sensor such as a thermocouple or RTD as input. It compares the actual temperature to the desired control temperature, or setpoint, and provides an output to a control element. The controller is one part of the entire control system. these are found in the interior climate control system, and in engine cooling system.

Does raising your core body temperature by having a warm bath or exercising benefit the defense of your body when you are sick and therefore helps you get better sooner?

When you are "sick," I am assuming from a common cold, you should rest. However some exercise is okay under the following circumstances:

1. You feel well enough - don't over exert yourself when you are already sick.

2. You don't have a fever and

3. Your symptoms are only "above the neck" - This includes runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, and sore throat.

Exercise is contraindicated when any of your symptoms are "below the neck" - including body/muscular aches, chest congestion, and coughing. Adequate rest gives your body's immune defenses a chance to rebuild and get stronger.A hot shower's steam may help in temporarily relieving congestion. As for the effect of core body temperature itself, a mild fever is one of the body's natural defense mechanisms against infection. The resulting increase in core body temperature has a number of beneficial effects including making it more difficult for some infections to thrive, and encouraging the production of additional white blood cells. It's worth noting that most OTC pain relievers will also reduce fevers. This includes Tylenol (acetaminophen), Advil (ibuprofen), Asprin, and Aleve (naproxen)

Why is axillary temperature the least accurate?

Axillary temperature is the least accurate because the area is exposed to circulating air outside of the armpit cavity, and in order for the result to be accurate, it takes 10 minutes of holding the thermometer in place. This is hard on the patient and the lab tech/nurse taking the person's temperature.

Does liver maintains body temperature?

yes the liver does maintain body temperature.

1. the liver produces acute phase proteins in response to cytokines which are as a result of inflammatory or infection or other insults to the body..these acute phase proteins act on the hypothalamus and it changes the set point..in response to the change in set point, it stimulates the release prostaglandins which will cause vasocontriction and increase core temperature and if the temperature is above the norm, there is decreased prostaglandins released and vasodilation in turn and increased heat loss.

2. the liver is a great store of and because there are many metabolic activities in the liver, these activities produce heat which is transfered to the blood and as in moves in and out of the liver the blood picks up the heat to distribute it to the body and thus maintaining body temperature.

What is a chest cold?

If you mean chest cold, it means you have heavy wheezing that cause some chest pains. If you are indeed asking about a cold chest, it is a very discomforting feeling in the chest or torso area. The chest feels like it is freezing even though one may be well covered, or with an electrical blanket on the chest. Opinions and input from other FAQ Farmers: * I get it often, and so far my own doctor can not explain what it is. * I also get a cold chest and again my doctor knows nothing about it. * I have had a cold chest for about 6 months now and once again my doctor knows nothing about it. He says it must be caused by sweating but this is not the case. It can be worrying so if anybody gets any answers I would be interested. * I went to the doctor, I ran some tests. Bloodwork (came out fine), Echocardiogram (All fine), and a stress test (the one where you run on a treadmill with all those probes attached to you; again all fine.) She agreed with me that it's all caused by stress and I need to cut down my stress level. Since I went to the doctor and found out that nothing is seriously wrong with me I've been much more relaxed knowing that I'm not going to have a heart attack or something and I haven't had a reoccurance of the cold feeling. Try de-stressing a little. It worked for me. *shrug* She also agreed with me that it was directly linked to my caffeine intake. I've stopped drinking caffinated beverages and I haven't had any cold feeling.

How does temperature effect the body?

Temperature affects how the enzymes work in your body. Enzymes are proteins that catalyze (i.e. incraese the rates of) chemical reactions in living cells. If it gets too hot or cold the enzymes might denature and lose the shape of their active site, which means the substrate may no longer fit and this decreases the rate of the chemical reactions. Moreover, if the temperature is too high one may start to sweat in order to evaporate some of the heat off their skin. If too much water is lost through sweating, one may become dehydrated and experience a variety of symptoms. If the temperature is too cold, one may begin to shiver in order to gain heat, which uses energy from respiration. One may also experience hypothermia.
