A turkey is 3 strikes in a row. You can only get a strike on the first ball of the frame. If you knock down all the pins on the 2nd ball of a frame it is a spare not a strike.

To play tenpin bowling, at minimum you need: a bowling ball, a pair of socks, and a pair of bowling shoes.

Bowling Ball - this is used to roll down the lane and knock the pins down. It varies in weight usually between six and sixteen pounds. You should use the heaviest one you can easily swing and control. A young-adult to adult male should be using a sixteen pound ball. If you do not own one, the bowling alley usually has several to choose from that you can borrow (usually for free).

Pair of Bowling Shoes - this is a special type of shoe that is slick on the bottom. It allows the bowler to slide on the approach to make delivery of the ball the most effective. Years ago, many bowling alleys would allow bowlers to bowl in just their socks. This is no longer the case due to injury/lawsuits and insurance reasons for the establishment. If you do not own a pair, you may them from the lanes for a nominal fee.

Pair of Socks - trust me when I say that you do not want to be sticking your bare feet into bowling shoes that have been worn by other people.

There are many other accessories that can be purchased for the advanced user to aid them in their quest of the perfect game, however these are the basics to be getting on with.

All you need for bowlings is the bowlings shoes and the balls and a score board you could go over hand by packing knee pads and elbow pads if you wanna.

Bowling shoes. It depends if your bowling for fun they have everything you need at your local bowling ally

If your bowling for competition you might want to consider buying a bowling ball (straight ball instead of a ball with hook if you are a beginner). and if you know you will bowl alot and in a lot of tournaments and leagues you might want to buy your own set of bowling shoes.

The only other thing you would need would be a towel for your ball or balls, ball cleaner, and rosin (stuff you put on your hands to get better grip).

Most things you need are at the alley already like shoes and a ball but i recommend getting your own shoes because the shoes there are constantly being used. (you can also bring a rag or powder but you don't really need it)

The basic things you will need if you want to start bowling are a bowling ball (consult your local pro shop at a bowling alley for advice on what ball to get for you level of strength), bowling shoes and many people like to wear a wrist guard to prevent them from hurting their wrists. You will also want a bag for you ball and a cloth to keep it clean and oil off of it. There are many "extras" but this is basically all you need.

; RADIUS OF GYRATION (RG) : Identifies how fast a ball begins to rotate once it leaves the bowler's hand. An account of the location of the mass inside a bowling ball. Rg tells us whether the ball has the mass toward the center of the ball (low rg), toward the cover of the ball (high rg) or somewhere in between (medium rg). 1. Low rg balls rev up quickly. 2. Medium rg balls rev up slightly later. 3. High rg balls lope down the lane saving the energy until later.

There is no minimum for differential. What differential tells you: RG Differential is an indicator of track flare POTENTIAL in a bowling ball. Differentials in the .01s to .02s would mean that a ball has a lower track flare potential, .03s to .04s would be the medium range for track flare potential, and the .05s to .080 would indicate a high track flare potential. These ranges above are not based on cardinal rules. They are BTM in-house rules of thumb because there are no published guidelines. Also, differential is a guide to the internal versatility of a ball. It can indicate just how much of a length adjustment can be made through drilling. A low differential will allow for only a modest variance in length (from shortest drilling to longest) which may translate into as little as a foot or two. An extremely high differential may translate into a length window in the neighborhood of eight feet.

A 300 game counts anytime you bowl it. However if it is not santioned you dont get all the perks and recognition. I know bowlers that average 150 that have bowled a 300 and bowlers with 200+ average that have not.

You should be able to purchase a replacement 300 ring. Keepsake Bowling Rings produces different bowling rings with different metals. Since 300's are verified, they should be able to verify a 300 was earned.

The best and cheapest way of doing thsi is getting on one knee and rolling the ball on the carpet for a couple shots. Make sure you have a pillow or a person to catch the ball or you could cause some serious damage. Doing this will allow you to focus on keeping your hand in a fixed position throughout your swing. After you get the hang of this, try takign it to the lanes. For the next couple of shots, take a one step delivery. Take a step back from the foul line and swing the ball and focus on keeping your hand in the correct position and when you are coming into your downswing take your slide. You can slowly incoporate the rest of your steps into the routine. You can also try turning your hand the opposite direction to break you out of the habit. Either way this should all be done ONLY DURING PRACTICE. Never focus on your technique when your scores count.

Often when a bowler or team was not scoring well, the scorekeeper would draw a dark black line along the right edge of the frame.
