Browning Firearms

First cataloged in 1980. Called the Grand Liege, it is not a Superposed, but, it was built in Belgium.

Made in 1987, Browning doesnt list a Citori with a model 143 which is the last three numbers in your serial number. This is the model. They list a Citori hunting model as model # 153 however.

As far as value, as with any firearm, it is not possible to accurately appraise a gun without seeing it. Condition, and original configuration will determine value. Other factors such as rarity of caliber or guage and higher grades have significant impact on value. Recommend that you see a local gun dealer for an appraisal.

Not quite. Browning does list a model 143 in the Citori line. 143 is the designation for a 12ga Trap model with Monte Carlo stock.

The value of a Browning BLR (Lever action) is, as with all firearms, dependant upon several conditions. The condition of the firearm is the primary determining factor in its value, with the possible exception of collector guns. The BLR will vary in value depending upon its caliber as well. As of Feb. 2007, a .270 BLR I purchased was worth approximately $500.00, in good (but not excellent) condition. The particular gun of which I write I would rate as follows. Metal-Blueing, 100%. Wood stock, 85%. This gun had a few scratches on the forearm, as well as a minor scuff or two on the stock, but as noted, the metal and blueing looked literally as good as brand new. The value of this gun may depend also upon whether it has had any gunsmithing work done on it. I spent around $100.00 on mine immediately after buying it to have the trigger pull reduced from a whopping 8lbs to around 3 1/4lbs pull.

The (7) digit serial number of a Browning BSS breaks down like this:

The first (4) digits represent the number of the gun in the production run. yours was the 7,327 gun made that year. The next Digit "A" represents 12 Gauge (B for 20 Gauge). The final (2) digits represent the year of manufacture. In your case 1972. Hope this helps.

Remington 700 .243 twist rate is: 1 in 10" you can google it like I did.

Only up until the early 1950's. Browning had FN match the barrels to all model receivers on A5's, but in an effort to reduce cost they stopped in the early 50's. To confuse matters, every once in a while a barrel will match a receiver up into the 1960's. There is no explanation for those situations.

Depends on the wear / or if new age condition all factors figure in "check with a trade magazine "like shotgun news or"google " some of the papers want ads for same style of gun in your area ,guess that figures in the price too

Something is not right. A three digit serial number would make it somewhere in 1901. The first 10,000 Auto 5's shipped to the USA were marked "BROWNING AUTOMATIC ARMS CO. OGDEN UTAH-U.S.A."
