Will the mother mouse abandon the babies if you touch them?
Rats might abandon their babies if they can't take care of them or if they are too stressed. My rat had babies and it kept abandoning one of them. We tried to feed it, but then decided to take it to the pet store. They put it with a mother mouse and it started licking it. A few days later we visited the pet store again and they said it died. If your rat abandons its babies, feed them with soy milk.
Wild desert mice eat whatever grains and other plant materials they can find - seeds from various desert plants, sedges, etc.
Can a pet rat live on its own?
Well no pet should be left unattended for a long time, although rats are pretty independant. As long as they have a large supply of food and a large supply of water (depending how many rats you have).
I say I dont think anything bad would happen if you left them for a weekend.
But you'd really have to over stuff their cage with food, there is never too much really. But too little can be a harm.
Yes. Small mammals tend to have great hearing abilities so please move your mouse somewhere silent if your going to play loud music.

If you have a white mom mouse and black and white dad mouse what colors will babies be?
Well that all depends on their genetics. The white fur of the mouse is reccessive, so if they're hybrid mice then there is a chance some of their offspring will be a color other than white, such as brown. But if they're pure white mice, then yes, there is a 100% chance that their offspring will be white as wel.l
How can you put your rat to sleep?
According to a booklet written by Debbie Ducommun of the Rat Fan Club, the only humane way to euthanize a rat at home without a veterinarian is using carbon dioxide (CO2) or nitrous oxide.
Concentrated CO2 is a central nervous system depressant and causes anesthesia. It doesn't cause suffocation. It will cause the rat to become anesthetized and then it will die.
The following is Debbie's recommended process for euthanasia:
Get a 10 gallon aquarium, an airtight plastic garbage bag (12"x16"), 4 ft of 1/2" vinyl tubing, a strong rubber band, (2) 2 cup measuring cups, 4 cups of white vinegar, 5 tablespoons of baking soda and a cover for the aquarium.
Put 5 tablespoons of baking soda on the bottom of the plastic bag & set the bag on the table next to the aquarium. Put 2 cups of vinegar in each measuring cup and set both cups inside the bag next to the baking soda.
Put the rubber band tightly around the neck of the bag and then insert one end of the tubing into the bag through the rubber banded neck so it is secured. Place the other end inside the aquarium.
Put a thick layer of cloth in the bottom of the aquarium and run the end of the hose underneath the cloth to disperse the gas coming out of the tube.
Place rat in the aquarium. Pour one of the cups of vinegar into the bottom of the plastic bag, making sure the hose stays above the liquid. The solution will begin to fizz for 1-2 minutes. When the fizzing slows down, pour out half of the remaining vinegar.
The rat will become groggy and go to sleep. Once the rat is unconscious, pour out the rest of the vinegar. Mix it well and gently compress the bag to force more of the CO2 into the aquarium. Cover the aquarium and do not disturb for at least 20 minutes.

Bleach can definitely kill mice if left in large enough quantities. The bleach has a better chance of killing mice if left in a closed up environment.
How come the urine of your pet rat smells?
All urine has a smell to it, including a persons pet rats. The smell of urine, including rat urine, is dependent on the diet. If urine smells excessively strange, then it is wise to consult a professional.
Rats are surprisingly very nice animals. They love to be with humans. If you are considering adopting a rat, please know that rats need at least 30 minutes out of their cage daily! Cages need to be cleaned weekly and the water needs to be filled to the top daily. Rats need tons of socialization if you don't want them to bite.

How do you change a mouse's bedding?
First move your mouse to a temporary home; i put mine in a run about ball. then disassemble the cage, throw out the old bedding and fill it with brand new bedding. then reassemble your cage and put your mouse back in. i suggest changing the bedding at least 1 a week; maybe more if your mouse has strong smelling urine. = )
The hopping mouse is the generic name for about ten different Australian mice. They tend to eat seeds and other small bits of plant matter.
How do you get rid of dead mouse odor when you can find the dead mouse?
If the mouse died on a nonstainable surface, I usually use pure bleach to clean it up. Cleaning the spot where the mouse died is generally the best way. Other methods include, using a fabric refresher like Febreze, especially in a hard to clean area. If there is blood in a fabric or carpet hydrogen peroxide can be used to remove the blood and a good amount of the smell. Caution: hydrogen peroxide can discolor some carpets and fabrics and should be tested on a small inconspicuous piece.
If the rodent has died somewhere that you cannot find (such as under floorboards or in an air duct), get some white vinegar, fill a number of cups and place them in the areas that smell the strongest. The vinegar seems to cover up the smell of decay pretty well, but it does need refreshing every other day until the rotten rat smell has gone!
What are the methods of pest control for centipede?
There are many different types of pest control for rats and mice on the market today and it is highly dependent upon the situation of the user in which one to choose. Option 1: Live Traps Rat cage traps are widely available on the market today and these unit catch the rodent pest live. Live catches are easy to use, however, the user must remember what the trap is designed to do. It catches the unwanted pests alive. By UK law it is necessary to kill rats as they as seen as a public health pest and releasing them is illegal. Rat cage traps are really used by people who are using rat pest control in sensitive areas where poisons are not recommended at all. For example where red squirrels have been seen. There are many type of mouse live catches as well which are ideal in areas where field mice are present or again where traps are not appropriate. Option 2: Instant Kill Traps There are a range of instant killing traps available to buy for rats and mice. The traditional wooden break-back rat and mouse trap is a well used favourite, however they do have a tendency of being very sensitive and often do activate in users hands. They are many adaptations of this trap, many strong plastic one-click traps which means no holding whatsoever of the dead carcass. There are also products available on the market which have a very strong attractant lure, making the trap irresistible to targeted pests. There are also a range of electronic killing devices which work by baiting the end of the trap and when the rodent completes the circuit, zapping it with an electrical pulse. A quick, clean kill which is safe to use around children and pets and the plates are hidden away. Option 3: The traditional method, poison! Poisoning is the most popular form of pest control. Around 99% of pest control officers will use poisons as their main choice for killing off a rodent infestation. It fast, effective and both time and cost effective. Many DIY users have very similar worries about using poisons to control: 1) A dying corpse in an inaccessible place and starting to smell. It is quite rare to the pest to die in an awkward place as the poison itself isn't an instant kill. It does take time to work, and depending on the poison you have chosen can take a few days to work. This means they tend to die in their nest which is often found outdoors. You can also purchase neutralising/ deodorizing sachets for when the rodent dies in the cavity walls. These sachets musk the smell for 3-4 months. 2) Using them around children areas or where pets are present. With all poisons you should always all them in a safe manner. If you are using them outdoor, you must use a lockable rodent box. Camouflage the box with leaves etc. and this box should keep any unwanted attention away. Option 4: Ultrasonic Electronic Repellers Ultrasonic electronic repellers are either battery operated or plug-in devices that emit a high frequency pitch which frighten away unwanted pests. There has been the great debate on many forums questioning its effectiveness. What I have found is that people are expect that once the unit is plugged in, the rodents will immediately run out of the area. However this is not the case and the units do take up to 3-4 weeks to fully work. We always recommend them as a repeller and not a solution. We suggest either trapping or poisoning the current problem then installing a pest repeller to scare away any future potential infestation.
How often do you need to feed a baby rat snake?
If its a baby you should feed it a LITTLE bit every about half hour. Make sure it's warm but not to warm.
Do not over feed it. i did one time and i cried for two days, but I found a new one and have had it for almost a month, it loves its wheel. It got out of its cage once - but about a week later we found it, and its fat again.
My rat would be in trouble if it got out of its cage! My dog & cats would get it.
p.s. I have 5 other pets NOT counting the rat - so six pets in all
