You can also use a VERY deleted bleach and water solution. If that's the method you use be very careful to rinse the cage out completely before you put the snake back in.

I am also looking for this answer. However I am learning that if snake makes sounds like sneezing or a purring noise, I hear it has respiratory problems? Our snake is a king snake. So if that is helpful? Also if it throws up more than twice after eating take it to vet. and look for mites on it's head or in feces. After handling check your hands for black dots? Wash your hands before and after handling If eyes are foggy it may be about to shed it's skin. these are all the things I've been able to find out about. Hope it helps. good luck. The ball python is a fairly common pet snake that has brown and black markings. As do some color strains of corn snakes and garter snakes. I was interested in finding this out because a pair that is at the petstore I buy from keeps getting pregnant. Anyway, I used a calculator to try to figure out how many babies she could have in a lifetime...

She has about 12 babies per litter. The gestation period is approx 20 days. I used an average of 4 years for her lifetime.

18x4= 72 times possible to get pregnant in her lifetime

72x12 (per litter)= 864 babies in her lifetime (about 216 babies per year if you want to change the number of years variable)

Might not be the most accurate because that is if the female is immediately pregnant again right after having a litter, so those are like the maximum potentials, but still interesting to see. That's a LOT of babies!

No. Snakes are solitary animals that only come together to breed.

Forcing snakes to live together can cause several problems:

1. stress due to one snake trying to be dominate over the other snake. this snake will take most of the food and the hides it likes. the other will be very stressed and as a result have reduced immune system functionality, eat less, and not be very happy.

2. cannibalism. while not common in all species, it does in fact happen with nearly all species. all it takes is for one to mistake the other as food and eat it, and then possibly die due to the size of the meal. is it really worth the risk?

3. disease and parasite transfer between the snakes. if snakes are housed together, any parasites or diseases that one has, the other will also get. if one gets sick, then you've doubled your vet bills.

all this risk for what? it doesn't really save money, tanks and supplies are cheap.

It depends how big the snake is. Young ones' teeth are tiny, and are unlikely to puncture a persons skin. An adult, however, has teeth that are 3-4mm long, and are capable of breaking the skin.

i have a ball python of my own and it came from the pet store in.......i guess ,a 20 gallon tank and there were two other snakes in there with him . SO he, or she, should do fine : )

It depends on how they are fed. If you power feed (2 or more feedings per week) they won't get their longest possible length but they will have a bigger gurth. If you slow feed (1 feeding every 1-2 weeks) they will achieve their maximum length of approximately 6 feet or more.
