What do newborn corn snakes eat?

I would recommend very small frozen rodents or tiny eggs like from a robin. The little guy can stomach more than you think.

One improvement and obligatory lesson in common sense. THAW the rodent. You can buy them at most pet stores from my experience.

Can a full grown corn snake suffocate a baby to death?

I haven't tested this theory but I believe that they would definitely be able to strangle a baby and possibly even a toddler. Please be a responsible reptile owner and keep all enclosures locked if you have small children! :-D

Can corn snakes live in pairs?

It is unadvisable to house multiple Corn Snakes together, but many owners do without any problems. It is a big ongoing debate into the pros and cons of housing together, but really it is all down to personal choice whether you choose to house your Corn snakes together or not.

The dangers for housing together include the chance of cannibalism (especially in younger Corn snakes), early or unexpected breeding, stress in one or all of the Corn snakes and even disease passing from one Corn snake to the other and doubling your vet bills.

If you do decide to house your corn snakes together in one vivarium it is important that both snakes are of a similar size, preferably adults. You will also need to add twice as many hides to the vivarium to ensure that one snake does not dominate the best hiding spots, which would cause stress to the other. You should feed separately and be ready for if breeding occurs. I would also advise having a spare RUB (Really Useful Box- plastic tub with air holes added to it), heat mat and thermostat handy, just in case problems arise and you need to separate your Corn snakes quickly.

How can you tell if your ball python has mites?

You will see small black dots, like poppy seeds under their scales. Buy a "No Pest Strip" from Lowes Hardware and put it next to their cage. You will see the mites dead on the bedding. Also when treating for mites clean the cage and unshredded use newspaper for bedding.

Do corn snakes and dogs get on?

If you mean to allow them both to come into close contact with each other - then NO ! The dog will view the snake as something to chew on - and the snake will be stressed by the presence of an animal too big for it to defend itself against.

Is it bad that your corn snake has discolored skin?

It depends on the age and species of the snake !

Baby corn snakes for example (up to a year old) will feed every 4-5 days but an adult of the same species will only need feeding every 10-14 days. A baby Boa will feed once a week, yet an adult Boa will only need to feed every 2-3 months !

No snakes don't regrow their tails, that's a lizard thing.

If you catch a mouse in your house can you then feed it to your pet snake?

Of course you can feed it to your pet snake. it would be happy to get live food once in a while.

Unless its a pet mouse of a family member or something. you can still feed it to your pet snake, but I'd bet that family member wouldn't like that.

Will a bigger corn-snake get along with a smaller corn-snake?

No. Snakes are solitary animals that only come together to breed.

Forcing snakes to live together can cause several problems:

1. stress due to one snake trying to be dominate over the other snake. this snake will take most of the food and the hides it likes. the other will be very stressed and as a result have reduced immune system functionality, eat less, and not be very happy.

2. cannibalism. while not common in all species, it does in fact happen with nearly all species. all it takes is for one to mistake the other as food and eat it, and then possibly die due to the size of the meal. is it really worth the risk?

3. disease and parasite transfer between the snakes. if snakes are housed together, any parasites or diseases that one has, the other will also get. if one gets sick, then you've doubled your vet bills.

all this risk for what? it doesn't really save money, tanks and supplies are cheap.

all it saves is a few cubic feet of shelf space.
