Will a red slider play with you other than feed time?
We have had a red slider for 10 years. Yes, the same one. We feed him turtle sticks and occasionally dried shrimp treats. He knows when we are coming to feed him and answers to his name by stretching his head towards the voice. I don't recommend playing with him or handling him very much but they are fun to watch explore. Take him outside in warm weather for an occasional airing in the grass, but keep a sharp eye on him. Above all wash your hands thoroughly after any contact with your slider. I hope you have yours as long as we have had Leo!
