Do female house cats spray while in heat?
I have 2 female house cats, and have never had them speyed as they only go outdoors when i do,
one of them has started squirting up things, first off it was just things in the garden but now she does it around the house, started off by things that were unfamiliar in the house,my sons new bike,a box from a Christmas present was sprayed up 3 times when it was put in the kitchen,
she has taken now to a wall near the front door and every morning i get up i can guarantee there will be sticky oily patches on the laminate around the base of the wall.
it has only been over the past 6mths or so she has been doing this and they are around 6yrs old now,
so my answer is yes whenever they are on heat some not all females will spray, what it is exactly im not sure, but it looks oily and when you wipe it up its yellow so i assume its a mixture of urine and something to attract a tom,
ive even bleached the wall down and sprayed it with cat repellant spray but it hasn't stopped her!
"I'm a kitty cat" is a line from the "Nyan Cat" song. The original track was composed by Japanese artist Hatsune Miku using Vocaloid software.
What does it mean when a cat trills?
When a cat trills, it is a vocalization that usually signifies excitement, affection, or greeting. Cats may trill when they are happy to see their owners, when they are playing, or when they are interacting with other cats. It's a friendly and endearing sound that cats use to communicate positively.
What is the masculine and feminine gender of a cat?
Male cats are called toms or tom-cats and female cats are called shes or she-cats.
Name a animal that probally scared to death of cats?
A mouse is an animal that is likely scared to death of cats due to the natural hunting instincts of cats towards small rodents like mice.
I think the answer to this question is a bit of a gray area; it all depends on what exactly you consider intelligence. You see the average human brain ways about 1350g, and because brain cells are fairly universal in size we can use this as a measure of intelligence between animals. One popular argument is sensory; you see a cat does indeed on average have more scent receptors and a better hearing range than a dog, but that in my mind is not intelligence.
Compare it to a goldfish; something we can all agree is fairly unintelligent. A goldfish has a brain mas of about 0.097g; if that goldfish had 40000 scent receptors it would only be capable of managing a small fraction of them.
A dog has a bran mass of about 72g and a cats is about 30g. Those of you whom believe cats are more intelligent because there brain-structure resembles a human's are poorly mistaken seeing that similar structures can be found in a marine rag-worm. therefore even though a cat has mare sensory cells that a dog; it is less intelligent.
Another Answer:
Are dogs smarter than cats, or are cats more intelligent than dogs? Kate Douglas of New Scientist details the results of recent studies designed to measure cat and dog intelligence. Some of the highlights are as follows.
Brains: Cats have More Processing Capacity than DogsAlthough brain size is not a good indicator of intelligence, the number of neurons in the cortex is. On this measure, cats have the advantage over dogs, with 300 million neurons in a cat's cortex compared to 160 million in a dog's. This suggests that cats have more information processing capacity (Roth & Dicke, 2005). Understanding: Cats and Dogs Respond to Human Social Communication GesturesSmart dogs can show an impressive level of understanding, with a capacity to follow pointing gestures made by humans and use their own gazes to bring objects or situations to the attention of their owners (Douglas, 2009). Although evidence suggests that cats are cognitively similar to dogs (for example, they are equally capable of using human pointing gestures as a cue to locate food), because they are usually neither motivated nor compliant when it comes to participating in research, it's difficult to gauge their level of understanding (Miklósi et al., 2005). Problem Solving: Canine Performance Affected by the Dominance HierarchyDogs have been subjected to far more research than cats, and cats don't make good research subjects given their lack of motivation to please, so not much is known about their problem-solving abilities. However, the problem-solving abilities of dogs may also be difficult to determine because they tend to rely on their owners to take a leadership role. Canines often look to their owners to solve logistical problems rather than taking the initiative, which may cause them to perform poorly on problem-solving tasks unless their owners encourage them (Douglas, 2009).Research has shown that a subordinate dog will usually perform better after witnessing another dog engaging in the desired problem-solving behaviour, and that both subordinate and dominant dogs do better after watching a human solve the problem. This illustrates the importance of the dominance hierarchy in canine learning and performance (Pongrácz et al., 2007).
Vocalization - Dogs Have the Range, Cats the FinesseGiven that cats don't usually meow to other cats and adult wolves rarely bark, it's likely that companion animal vocalizations arose due to a desire to communicate with humans, and thus may be a reflection of social intelligence. Canines have more vocal flexibility when it comes to pitch, frequency, range, length, tonality, and other factors, so they are better able to communicate their feelings and intentions (Douglas, 2005). But studies have shown that cat vocalizations have some interesting and unusual features. New evidence suggests that cats are capable of purring with a frequency that has a subliminal effect similar to that of a human baby's cry. This purr, known as the "solicitation purr," is slightly different from the regular purr and is used to ask for food (McComb et al., 2009). There is also evidence that purring provides pain relief and speeds the healing process. Perception - Cat Senses are More Powerful than Those of DogsBoth cats and dogs have far better senses of hearing and smell than humans, but a cat can hear sounds ranging from 45-64,000 hertz, whereas a dog can only hear within a range of 67-45,000. Also, the average cat has more smell receptors than the average dog (some dog breeds, such as the bloodhound, are the exceptions to this rule). In addition, cats have an edge over dogs when it comes to night vision, though dogs can see better in low light than humans (Douglas, 2005). The well-developed senses of cats may explain why they often appear to see, hear, or smell things that people (and even dogs) can't perceive. Intelligence Varies Among Individual AnimalsIt's difficult to determine how intelligent cats and dogs are because in natural settings, they apply their intelligence to problems that are important to cats and dogs, rather than those of interest to humans. In addition, people who have spent time with many cats or dogs will have noticed that some are more intelligent than others. Each species has its geniuses, as well as its duller members. The smartest cat is probably far more intelligent than the dullest dog, and vice versa, because individual animals vary widely based on genetics, experience, and other factors. For more on the feline mind, see Cat Intelligence and Do Cats Have Emotions?

How many days are in cat years?
"Cat years" is an expression that compares the age of a cat to the age of a human. Because each is a different size and has a different lifespan, we use the approximate ratio of elapsed time to expected time. Say that a cat lives for 10 years and a human lives for 70. When the cat reaches age 6, it is at the equivalent point in its life to a person aged 42. So in 'cat years' the cat is aged 42, while in real time it is only 6. The same idea can be applied to other animals, dogs being the main one.
Is cordyline red star toxic to cats?
As with many houseplants, the cordyline red star is toxic to cats. Cats have a habit of eating houseplants whether the plants are toxic or not so it is important to keep toxic plants out of a cat's reach.
How early can a cat get pregnant?
normally the cat is pregnant from 59-67 days until birth ( about 9 weeks ) Cat pregnancy stages are: first 2 weeks go unoticed, 3rd week the cat starts pinking up ( getting milk and nipples enlarge) 4th week cat gains weight and starts to grow, 5-9 weeks the cat continues pregnancy and at birth the cat will go to a dark place ( mine have had kittens in the rafters of my garage, 5 gallon pale, under some straw in a barn ect.) but if they are young they will usually find an obvious spot ( mine have had them in a paper bag on my front porch, on a patio chair in the garage ect.) if they only have one kitten then they will be very overprotective of it so don't move it!! if i was helpful to you could you please recommend me and give me a trust point :D i would like that:D
When do cats stop eating kitten food?
Cats typically stop eating kitten food between 9-12 months of age. Once a cat reaches adulthood, usually around 1 year old, they can transition to an adult cat food diet that provides the appropriate nutrients for their age and stage of life.
Can an adult cat survive on dry cat food only for a week?
An adult cat can survive on dry cat food alone for a week, but it is not ideal for their health in the long term. Cats need a balanced diet that includes wet food and potentially some fresh meat or vegetables for optimal nutrition. If you need to feed your cat only dry food temporarily, make sure they have access to plenty of water.
How long does kittens stay in a cats tummy?
Unfortunately, babies which are inside the cat's stomach have been eaten, and will only exit the stomach in the form of fecal matter ("poo"). A cat's digestion cycle is relatively fast (under 24 hours), so it is best to check the litter box.
If you are talking about a pregnant cat (in which case the babies are actually in its womb) then a domestic cat will be pregnant for around 65 days before giving birth. Ok. The second answer is right but what is with the first answer!!?? Oh wait......I know what you mean..... never mind!!
Dogs and cats are unlikely to seek out and eat algae on their own. Algae is not a typical part of their diet and may cause gastrointestinal issues if consumed in large amounts. It's best to provide a balanced diet specifically formulated for their nutritional needs to keep them healthy.
The average lifespan for an indoor only cat is 15-18 years. For an outdoor cat or an indoor outdoor housecat, it is only 3 years. This is due to more exposure to disease, infection, cars, and preditors. Feral cats rarely live to be 3 years old.
It is perfectly okay to bathe your cats. The only problem is, cats hate water, the cat will not like the bath, and whatever you do, don't put water on your cat's head/face. Also do not submerge your cat in water.
Yes, female cats can spray, although it is less common than in male cats. Female cats typically spray to mark their territory or communicate with other cats. If a female cat is spraying indoors, it may be a sign of stress or a medical issue, and a vet visit is recommended.
Can a cat's body fit through whatever it's head fit through?
Yes, typically a cat's body can fit through spaces that are similar in size to its head. Cats have flexible bodies that allow them to contort and squeeze through tight spaces. However, it's important to provide a safe environment for your cat and ensure they do not get trapped or injured while exploring.
Actally, they do! My cat enjoys watching movies with lots of light and figures moving around the screen. He perches up atop the couch, behind where we sit and watches TV with us. We also find it rather funny when he runs to the screen and tries to hit the moving characters on it. Usually, the older the cat the more they like to sit in your lap and watch TV with you, but it all depends on the cat!
What do the nipples of a pregnant cat look like?
they stick out abit more and are a dark pink after 21 days of being pregnant
Describe the texture of a cat's lungs?
A cat's lungs have a spongy and elastic texture, with numerous small air sacs called alveoli that help in the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide during breathing. The lungs are covered by a thin membrane called the pleura that aids in smooth breathing movements.
Is chamomile mint tea good for kittens?
Don't give your cat any herbal supplements without consulting your vet. While catnip is in the mint family, it isn't safe to assume that either mint or chamomile would be very appropriate to give your cat.
Cats may be more likely to attack if they feel frightened, threatened, or provoked. It's important to understand cat behavior, provide appropriate socialization, and create a safe environment to prevent aggressive behavior. If a cat does exhibit aggressive tendencies, it's best to consult with a veterinarian or animal behaviorist for guidance on addressing the behavior.
Are chicken hearts good for cats?
Yes, they are. They are a great source of taurine, an essential amino acid cats need. I wouldn't feed chicken hearts solely as a meal, but I'd mix some in with their usual food (especially those feeding a raw diet), or cut into pieces and used as treats.
Note: If using for supplemental reasons, the taurine level reduces significantly when cooked or frozen. If you're comfortable feeding it to your cat raw, it'd probably be more beneficial.
How much does it cost to do a blood test on a cat that's liver is failing?
The cost of a blood test for a cat with liver failure can vary depending on the veterinary clinic, location, and specific tests needed. In general, blood tests for liver function typically range from $50 to $200. Additional tests or consultations may be necessary, increasing the overall cost.
What is the time period that cats stays in your system?
In what context of your question? This does not make sense. Are you asking how long does cat dander causes you to sneeze? How long does the love of a cat stay in your heart? Did you EAT a cat? What is it your asking exactly?
