The main reason students are banned from chewing gum in school is that they often stick it places that it shouldn't do. As teachers are fully-grown adults, they are trusted to dispose of it in the right way. Well as they own the school well work there so they have to have some privaliges (bad speller) but its not at all fair tho.

Frank Fleer introduced the original peppermint-flavored "Chiclets" brand candy-coated gum in 1906.

Fleer was a member of The American Chicle Company gum-makers' conglomerate, started by Thomas Adam's who had patented the first of the modern-day chewing gums back in 1871.

Gum does not help you in class, but it can help to strengthen your jaw muscles.

Yes of course because it can make the gum long lasting.

The more you chew bubblegum the larger potential bubbles can be.

The longer you chew the gum the more liquid (saliva) is added thus making it softer and more pliable.

But the real reason is because as you chew, you get rid of the sugar in the gum. Sugar weakens the bubbles allowing them to pop or deflate much more easily. The less sugar, the bigger bubbles!

Because the makers of the gum wanted it to taste good.

There were a few different bubble gums that had liquid in the middle. Fresh'n up is the name of a gum with liquid in the middle.

Another name was Tidal Wave. Then of course others followed, like A&W Root Beer gum and Chewels.

Chewing gum CAN plug them up. We had a dog eat one of those large packs of gum. The Vet said to give him 2-3 Tablespoons ( ours is a 65 lb dog) of Hydrogen peroxide. Make sure the dog is out side or get it outside within 3 seconds as they will puke up anything in their stomach. It worked, the bubblegum came up and this was after eating it 2 hours earlier.

No, you can't. Actually, it is good for you to chew gum every once in a while. It strenghtens your jaw muscles and helps your brain function faster. Don't over do it, though, you might eat to much sugar! If you really crave gum that much, you can also get sugar free gum.

I know Excel (called Eclipse in the US) is number 1 in Canada; as for the rest, I'm not sure.

Chicle is a milky liquid that comes from the Sapodilla tree. Chicle is a form of rubber. Like rubber bands it doesn't dissolve when you chew it, neither does chicle. Chicle is a bit softer than rubber bands. It starts to soften when it gets warm in your mouth. If you were to freeze chicle with ice, it gets stiff. Chicle softens when it is in an narrow temperature range. Gum is mixed with sugar and other flavorings to make the chewing gum. Chemist learned how to replace chicle and make artificial gum. When you chew it, the rubber releases the flavor into your mouth. Chewing gum is candy designed to chew it instead of swallowing it down your throat.

Actually, you cant chew gum. It reacts with your digestive system the same way eating something does, whether or not it is sugarless or regular..

The reason why you are not allowed chewing/bubble gum is mainly because of it sticking to your brackets (the bit attached to your tooth), not because of the sugar content. However, the sugarfree gum tends to be less sticky and so you would have less chance of it getting caught in your brackets. But I really don't recommend chewing gum of any kind whilst wearing braces..been there, done that!

So long as you don't choke on it, it will be absorbed/digested by your digestive system. It will not hurt you but it's hardly nutritious.

It has been said that if you chew gum during a test it helps you focus more. However, to some, chewing gum distracts them because they are blowing bubbles or focusing on the taste of the gum rather than the test. Also, if you are taking a test with other people who are also chewing gum, you are likely to get distracted by the sound of a person chewing gum.

opinions vary. Personally, I put in a stick of gum at the beginning of an 8 hour shift and was chewing it still when I drove home. It still had great flavor.
