Many patients ask this question. It is impossible to determine who gave the other person Chlamydia. There is no test out there that can tell who had it first. Extensive research of past/present sexual parters and if they are carriers or not would be the only way to possibly determine who brought it into the relationship, but even that would not be 100% reliable as people may deny having had it and so forth.

Rather than finding that answer, please consider whether you are taking adequate measures to protect your sexual health in this relationship, and make any changes to take care of yourself.

There aren't any really. Chlamydia is what is known as a 'silent disease'. It doesn't cause any particularly unpleasant symptoms in males or females, so it is really easy to have it and not know.

The problem comes when a female with chlamydia decides she want children. Chlamydia causes infertility that is not reversible. Which means lots of money on IVF or surrogates for a couple desperate to have a child. Sadly, this isn't what most teenagers are thinking about when they have unprotected sex, so chlamydia is on the rise.

It IS serious, it IS easily treatable (better to be treated before the damage is done though), it IS easy to avoid if you use condoms and it IS something you should get tested for if you think you've been exposed. There's no shame in being tested. I've done it, millions of people have done it, if you don't want to do it then never have sex without a condom. Simple.

Per CDC recommendations, patients being treated should avoid oral, anal, and vaginal intercourse (even with a condom) until 7 days have passed since the last partner completed treatment with azithromycin (Zithromax, Zmax). Chlamydia can damage the body, but the germ is gone after effective treatment is completed.

Even though azithromycin treats chlamydia with a single dose, it doesn't work immediately. After taking one dose treatment, it continues to work in your body over the course of the next week.

There is no known problem with lack of effectiveness of chlamydia treatment. If you used the correct treatment and took it as directed, and did not have sex during or after treatment, you should not be infected. If you still have symptoms, contact your health care provider. If you made the mistake of getting retested immediately after treatment, then that explains your misunderstanding -- you can't get restested until four to six weeks after treatment or you'll get a false positive test result.

You need to take the full course of the antibiotics given to you. This is stated on the instruction sheet. Oh man, that sucks that you have bladder infection, or someone you know does. I had bladder problems to, with my kidneys. :( sad day. But, if the doctor prescribed you with antibiotics, I would say that it would heal if you followed the directions of how much you should take a day or hour and if you follow those directions, it should be healed as soon as your doctor takes you off the antibiotics. :) But Im no doctor so I am not sure. Because chlamydia can infect the testes, and because the testes rely on the body being able to tell that it shouldn't attack the sperm made there, there is concern that a vaccine could affect sperm production in men by inducing an autoimmune response. (See related link).

Chlamydia can spread from the genitals to higher locations in the reproductive tract. For instance, in a female it can spread from the vagina to the fallopian tubes and pelvis, causing pelvic inflammatory disease. In a male, the infection can spread from the urethra to the epididymis. However, the infection can't spread from your throat to your vagina, or from your eyes to your penis, unless you transmit the bacterium from one location to the other with your hands.

No but pregnancy can. Be sure to get a pregnancy test to make sure that's not the cause of your late period.
Women can still have periods if they have chlamydia. You can have chlamydia with or without getting your period.
