Why does a fruit tree not produce fruit for the first few years?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A fruit tree does not produce fruit immediately because it is still growing and developing. For example, a toddler can't have a kid because it is too young because they are still not mature enough. The tree needs to grow and have enough time to produce seeds, then fruit.

What is the average circumference of an orange?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

About 3 inches.

Darling, that would be the diameter (across), not the circumference (around). A small (3" diameter) orange would be 9 1/2" around, a large (4" diameter) grapefruit would be nearly 12 1/2" around.

For another reference, a 12" diameter softball is about 3.8" in diameter.

What can you use to zest a lemon if you don't have a zester?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are several methods to getting the lemon ready to be squeezed:

1. Put heavy pressure on the lemon; roll around on countertop

or

2. Put in microwave for 10 seconds

Then, just slice in half (shortest distance across), remove any visible seeds, sqeeze over hand, letting juice slide through fingers, catching any remaining seeds, or just squeeze over a collander to catch seeds. (I really don't like lemon seeds, although some people don't mind them as much).

Voila. Lemon juice.
