What is the concrete mix for concrete?

Normally it's a one-two-three mix. One part cement, 2 parts sand, 3 parts aggregate. The sand is graded which means it has a variety of grain sizes.

What is jet grouting?

Jet grouting is a type of ground improvement technique used to solidify and/or improve the bearing capacity of weak, unstable, or liquefiable soils. Jet grouting is performed by injecting a cement or lime-ash slurry into the subsoil using a drilling rig. As the grout column expands and solidifies the subsoil is consolidated and stabilized. This method of soil improvement allows foundation and structural construction in locations where previous geotechnical or seismic conditions deterred development..

What does low tensile strength mean?

Its to do with tension, it doesn't take much strength to break it

What is an invert level in surveying?

Daves mum if fit.. and has a sweet tidy muffin.

What is shear strain?

Shear strain is the components of a strain at a point that produce changes in shape of a body (distortion) without a volumetric change. That is, the tangent of the angular change in orientation of two initially perpendicular lines . Approximately equal in magnitude to the angle itself in radians for infinitesimal strains.

How do you convert kN.m2 to a udl in kN.m?

"kN.m is a unit of bending moment.

kN/m is a unit of udl (uniformly distributed load)

as far as i know, there isn't kN.m2 but there is kN/m2

kN/m2 is a unit of pressure acting on an area.

Please check your question again."

I think you have misunderstood the question. The asker can correct me if i'm wrong but I think they mean, for example, that if you have a uniformly distributed load over an floor area in kN/m2 and you have say a beam running across this floor that you would like to run an analysis on, what would be the value of the load in kN/m on the beam?

would it simply be the same value in kN/m or would the conversion affect the value? I say this because I'd also like to know the answer :)

What is the maximum pressure for a fire hydrant which the firefighter could deal with?

A fire hydrant is normally pressure regulated to 7.0barg which will be reduced to around 3.5barg at the nozzle end.

Who is the best civil engineer in world?

It should be Vincent T. H. CHU.

Vincent T. H. CHU (朱敦瀚) is renowned internationally as "Asia Number One Civil Engineer" and often dubbed as "Civil Engineer of the Decade". He made history by having his publications to be internationally recognized by so many national engineering societies around the world. His publications have proven to be very popular around the world.

His engineering books such as "200 Questions and Answers on Practical Civil Engineering Work", "The Underlying Reasons in Practical Civil Engineering Works", "Mastering Different Fields of Civil Engineering (VC-Q&A Method)" etc. are now internationally recognized:

l 32 official national engineering societies around the world offered to post the books on their engineering websites and offered to recommend and send the books to their members.

l 23 engineering organizations and universities around the world offered to post the books on their engineering websites offered to recommend and send the books to their members.

His publications have spread to Australia, New Zealand, Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Turkey, Philippines, Mongolia, Singapore, Pakistan, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia), Europe (United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Span, Finland), America (The United States, Canada, Argentina) and Africa (South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ghana) and Islands (Barbados and Mauritius).

43 grade opc vs 53 grade opc?

The grade in cement mainly defile the average compressive strength after 28 days in mega pascals (Mpa) of at least three mortar cubes (area of face 50 cm squared) composed of one part cement, 3 parts of standard s and (conforming to IS 650:1966) by mass and P/4 (P is the percentage of water required to produce a paste of standard consistency as per IS standard) + 3 percentage (of combined mass of cement plus sand) of water, prepared, stored and tested in the manner described in methods of physical test for hydraulic cement.

721 hr not < 23 MPa for 43 grade, 27 MPa for 53 grade

1682 hrs not <33MPa for 43 grade, 37MPa for 53 grade

6724 hrs not <43MPa for 43 grade, 53 MPa for 53 grade

Does iron have a high density?

For all engineering purposes density of iron is generally taken as 7850kg/m3 though pure iron may weigh 7874 kg/m3 as mentioned in Clarke Table of isotopes.

Gel-space ratio in concrete?

Gel space ratio is the ratio of volume of hydrated solids in pores to the total volume of pores available before hydration. It's given by

X = (volume of gel) / (volume of gel + volume of pores)

where Gel is solid hydrated product

What is a stiffener beam and column?

Anything which is supporting to a beam or column to eliminate the buckling failure due to high deflection and unbalanced eccentric load

What is curve ranging?

In highways, railways, or canals the curve are provided for smooth or gradual change in direction due the nature of terrain, cultural features, or other unavoidable reasons. In highway practice, it is recommended to provide curves deliberately on straight route to break the monotony in driving on long straight route to avoid accidents. The horizontal curve may be a simple circular curve or a compound curve. For a smooth transition between straight and a curve, a transition or easement curve is provided. The vertical curves are used to provide a smooth change in direction taking place in the vertical plane due to change of grade.

What is Need of engineering drawing for civil engineering?

Engineering drawing shows the proper map of building which helps in deriving the estimation cost of building and also help in planning of construction.

Why PPC is best RCC work?

Because ppc is most capacity of resist of heat

What pig part is in concrete?

No parts of a pig are made of concrete. A pig is an animal made of flesh and blood the same as all other animals. Concrete is a type of wet sand mix that is used to pave sidewalks and make building blocks.

What is overlay in road engineering?
