How can you fix a printer that does print anything?

Usually it's the print cartrige, if that's not the problem and it's not a REALLY expensive printer, it probably isn't worth repairing. If it's still under warranty, just take it back. If not, try the print cartrige or just get a new printer. Answer: I fixed my printer by going to a link below, "Fix your printer. Find a solution for any printer problem easily", at FixYa.com It's a free service providing answers to questions. I had a worrysome problem of a progressively worsening 1 inch wide black bar, from top to bottom on 8 1/2 x 11 inch pages, about 2 inches from the right side of pages. I thought I'd have to get my ink cartridge re-filled or buy a new printer. I bought my printer used, with no instruction booklet. I read someone's question at FixYa.com in the Oki printer section, and the person described making a test page using the printer's controls. I thought, I've got to try that. I started pressing anything on the printer that looked like an electronic control button. After about 35 trial-and-error prints, the annoying black bar is gone! Amazing! I think I caused the problem somehow. Maybe when I removed the ink cartridge out of curiosity and re-installed it. Maybe from curiously pressing the electronic button pad on top of the printer, just to see what it'd do. I'm relieved the problem's solved. I'm surprised my OKIPAGE 10e printer works at all with my computer, because Windows 98 doesn't even list my printer as one which can be connected to it. Incredibly, Windows 98 thinks my printer is an Okidata OL-600e.

Is refilling your ink cartridge the same as buying a new one?

It will print like new as long as you use high quality ink and not the cheaper ink. The better the ink the better the quality. A good piece of advice is to make sure to follow the instructions and clean the cartridge before refilling it.

Inventor of printer?

In 1953, the first high-speed printer was developed by Remington-Rand for use on the Univac computer.

In 1938, Chester Carlson invented a dry printing process called electrophotography commonly called a Xerox, the foundation technology for laser printers to come.

The original laser printer called EARS was developed at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center beginning in 1969 and completed in November, 1971. Xerox Engineer, Gary Starkweather adapted Xerox copier technology adding a laser beam to it to come up with the laser printer. According to Xerox, "The Xerox 9700 Electronic Printing System, the first xerographic laser printer product, was released in 1977. The 9700, a direct descendent from the original PARC "EARS" printer which pioneered in laser scanning optics, character generation electronics, and page-formatting software, was the first product on the market to be enabled by PARC research."

According to IBM, "the very first IBM 3800 was installed in the central accounting office at F. W. Woolworth's North American data center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1976." The IBM 3800 Printing System was the industry's first high-speed, laser printer. A laser printer that operated at speeds of more than 100 impressions-per-minute. It was the first printer to combine laser technology and electrophotography according to IBM.

In 1992, Hewlett-Packard released the popular LaserJet 4, the first 600 by 600 dots per inch resolution laser printer.

In 1976, the inkjet printer was invented, but it took until 1988 for the inkjet to become a home consumer item with Hewlett-Parkard's release of the DeskJet inkjet printer, priced at a whopping $1000.

What does a screen printer do?

Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas. Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. It is also known as "silk screening" or "serigraphy".

What feature on a printer must be enabled so that a printer can print on both sides of the paper?

First, for a printer to print on both sides of the paper without you having to physically flip it over after it's done printing on one side, it has to support Duplex printing. This can often be found out just by looking on the printer,

Example: HP LaserJet M3035dn <-- where the d signifies duplex and the n is network.

If there isn't anything like that on the printer, just check the manual :D

Second, the printer driver on your computer has to have this feature enabled.

If it is, when you're in a document and are about to print, a window pops up with the printer and some more into. Besides the printer name, in most cases, there is a button that says Settings, most of the time. Click that, and choose duplex printing.

On many old style printers, it can say: Manual duplex, you have to turn the page. (Or something along those lines)

For a more in depth walkthrough, read the manual that came with the printer :)

Why are mono laser printers better than ink jet?

By definition a laser printer uses a process of electrostatic digital printing in which a laser beam is passed over a charged drum in order to define an image that is deferentially charged rapidly producing graphics and text of a high quality.

A mono (or monochrome) laser printer is a laser printer that only has one ink toner cartridge, almost always black. It is a black and white printer. It may also be possible to get different color cartridges but only one can be used at a time so it is still a monochrome printer. Specialty ink cartridges are also available such as magnetic ink cartridges (MICR) for printing the bottom of a check.

A color laser printer is one that has multiple ink toner cartridges so that it can print in various colors The toner cartridges are usually yellow, magenta, cyan (like yellow red, blue). The better laser printers will have a separate black cartridge for monochrome printing. Other black printing is done by combining all three ink color to get black which is wasteful and expensive.

How do you print in black and white with HP Deskjet 2050 J510 series?

I've been looking everywhere in the settings and couldn't find anything, so I just took out the color cartridge and printed as normal.

It worked fine; just have to replace it when you want to print in color again.

=========================================================

You can print in B&W and there is no need to remove the COLOUR cartridge from the printer.

Go to --> Printers and Faxes --> right click your printer --> Properties --> Printing Preferences --> Advanced --> Document Options --> Printers Features --> Print in Graystyle --> Choose "BLACK INK ONLY".

That's it. No need to remove colour cartridge from the printer.
