The lesson of the creation story is there is an intelligent mind behind the development of mankind. Just like man cannot simply mix together all the parts of a house or a car and toss them into the air and expect them to fall into place simply by chance, it is also unreasonable to think mankind came about simply by the big bang theory or evolution. (Man is certainly a lot more complicated than a house or a car.) So the lesson is all creation owes a deep debt of gratitude to that intelligent being who is the most high over all the earth (Psalm 83:18).

1) God exists and is the Creator. By implication, this means that we should see God as the role-model, which in turn implies morality.

2) Humans are the pinnacle of Creation. That is why they were created last (Genesis ch.1).

3) Humans are made in the Divine image (Gen. ch.1).

4) We possess a God-given soul (this is one of the meanings of Gen. 1:27 and 2:7).

5) We were given free-will and are responsible to God (otherwise, the warning in Gen.2:17 would be unnecessary).

Buddha taught that the world wasn't created rather it was formed due to cause and effect. Conditions arose that led to its creation.

There is no Buddhist creation story. Pondering the origin of the Universe is not seen as time well spent. Thinking about creation serves no purpose other than to distract you from the understanding and the following of the Eightfold Path. The answers to creation may well be unknowable and efforts to understand it of no avail. Your understanding doesn't matter.

He seemed to accept what is now commonly called "theistic evolution." He didn't write a whole lot about it, but he did believe in common ancestry -- including humans. However, he kept a humble tone because I don't think he wanted to put a presupposed limit on the creating power of God.
