How much would a 1929 central arms 16 gauge be worth?
A "store brand" or "trade name" made by the Crescent Arms Co. of Norwich Conn. for the Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, MO. Crescent started about 1892. They offered inexpensive single and double barrels in 12, 16, 20, 28 and 44XL shot caliber. Barrels were either Damascus Twist laminated or Armory Steel Barrels. They do not have much value and are best relegated to "wall hanger" status unless checked out by a competent gunsmith. Prices range from 100-400.

some of the markings on the barrel are proof marks that were stamped on the barrel. the crown with the elg is the final or definitive proof mark that means the gun met approval of the proofing house. elg stands for epreuve de liege/ proof of liege. the 12-70 means that the gauge is 12 and the chamber is 70 millimeters. however they do not help with the age of the gun much. but it does confirm that it was made on belgium. hope this info helped.
The serial numbers all match. they are 25717. The stock is engraved Wells Fargo and Co. and is somewhat worn out over the years. Egraving on the face plate left side of gun, Enders Royal American. The Barrel is 21 inches long. In appearance it looks to be very worn and very old. It was sold to me as an original stage coach gun. Any info anyone has would be appreciated.
