Animal that lived 4000 million years ago?

smilodon, while not existing as late as 10000bce, are depicted in the movie. furthermore, they only existed in the Americas. terror birds such as phorohacus are also depicted. like the smilodon reference, their time on this earth was far and away over in Egypt by 10k bc. Wooley mammoths did exist at this time, finally becoming extinct 3 or 4 k bc. all three of these animals were depicted at least 40 percent larger than they actually were. this movie, while somewhat entertaining, was frustrating on many levels when considering historical accuracies. smelted and engraved iron swords, telescopes, written languages, and,oh yeah, the pyramids at Giza were being built with mammoths and slave labor. hmmmmm..........

What is likely reason why dinosaurs became extinct?

it is said they died from a total wipe out from a meteor strong enough to kill them all but there are other reasons such as they died from a volcano water loss or maybe a lot of the other died so there was no food for the carnivores

Have humans lived longer than dinosaurs?

Dinosaurs existed from 231 million years ago to 65.5 million years ago, a time span of 166 million years. Humans as a genus have only been around for 2.3 million years, and modern humans for only 200,000 years. So dinosaurs existed for a much longer time than we have so far.

Where is a dinosaurs natural habitat?

There were thousands of different species of dinosaurs, and different species lived in different places and habitats at different times. Dinosaurs lived on every continent between 250 and 65.5 million years ago. Some dinosaurs lived in the desert, such as Velociraptor, Protoceratops, and Coelophysis. Other dinosaurs lived on semi-arid plains that were covered in ferns and had scattered forests. Such dinosaurs include Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus, Dryosaurus, Allosaurus, and Stegosaurus. That type of habitat no longer exists, though, as it has been replaced by grasslands. Other dinosaurs lived in swamps, such as Spinosaurus, or on coastal floodplains, such as Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Edmontosaurus, Corythosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus. There were even dinosaurs in Antarctica's polar forests, which were somewhat similar to the boreal forests of Canada today. These include Antarctosaurus, Antarctopelta, Cryolophosaurus, and Leaellynasaura.

What do you call a grass eater dinosaurs?

Herbivorous dinosaurs included sauropods, stegosaurs, ankylosaurs, hadrosaurs, ceratopsians, and pachycephalosaurs. Grass, however, didn't appear until the end of the Age of Dinosaurs and wasn't common, so dinosaurs would have mainly eaten other plants.

What came first roaches or dinosaurs?

What kind of dinosaurs live in the mesozoic era?

The Mesozoic era is divided into three periods Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous.

During the early Triassic, corals appeared. Seed plants dominated the land, in the northern hemisphere, conifers flourished. Glossopteris was the dominant southern hemisphere tree during the Triassic period.

Many new dinosaurs appeared during the Jurassic period. Giant plant eating dinosaurs dominated the Earth. carnivores such as Allosaurus and Composognathus were plentiful. Many bird-like dinosaurs also thrived during this period.

The Cretaceous period saw the heyday of the dinosaurs. Many new species of dinosaurs evolved during this period. New dinosaurs such as, the deadly t-rex and the extremely large Giganotosaurus appeared for the first time as did Triceratops and many others.

Did tsunamis cause the dinosaur extinction?

No. Scientists believe that a giant meteor hit the Earth, killing all the dinosaurs and causing their extinction.

It is true that the extinction of dinosaurs is mostly due to the meteor that hit earth during the time but according to scientists, only around 60 percent of the organisms on earth died due to direct impact. Some other reasons the dinosaurs are extinct may have included climate change, competition, or volcanic eruptions. And on the part about tsunamis, there actually was a massive tsunami near the Gulf of Mexico after the disturbance of the meteor that swept nearly 180 miles inland. But it was the meteor that caused the tsunami and also then the meteor, not the tsunami that may have contributed to the extinction of dinosaurs.

Is Brontosaurus a real dinosaur?

How many plant eating dinosaurs were there?

That´s quite difficult to know for sure given the fact that we probably only know about 10% (probably even less) of the species of dinosaurs that ever existed. To try to get an idea you should think that there are more herbivores than carnivores (think of the energy pyramid) today and this has always been true in order to keep the balance in the different ecosystems. Now, mammals are like the group of animals that replaced dinosaurs in their different niches. Find out how many herbivorous mammals there are today (include the extinct ones) and you may get an idea of how many herbivorous dinosaurs there were.

What dinosaurs are vegetarian?

well in fact most of them we found were Vegetarian it makes sents because meat eaters eat meat so there has to be more vegetarian it is the same with Animals today but the meat eater are the most well known some examples are the Diplodocus (which neck was about 8 m long five_toed feet and a small haed with a even smaller brain and spines on it,s back) Triceratops (with 3 hourns in front og it,s head the smallest one was in the front of it close to it,s mouth and 2 thist over it,s eyers and it,s skull looks like a piece of armer it stood on 4 legs and had a long tail) Camptosaurus (which in greek stands for bent lizard it was a fast runner and standed some times on 4 legs and some times on 2 legs) Tuojiangosaurus (The two rows of bony plates was along its spine and two large spikes where on each side of its tail which helped protect it while it nibbled on soft shoots and ferns) Edmontosaurus (Up to 13m long and weighing 7 tonnes, its horny beak and thousand grinding cheek teeth formed a 'dental battery' for munching pine needles, cones and twigs)

A baby T-rex was a carnivore, and therefor ate meat. However, they probably were cared for by their parents and didn't hunt for their own food. They may have eaten regurgitated meat, like young birds or African wild dogs do today, or they may have eaten the fresh kill, more like lion cubs.
