Are pigeons afraid of bright colors?
Tremendous amounts of pigeon flocks in cities are often seen as a nuisance, but these birds are actually amazingly adapted to urban habitats and bring a bright spot of avian color to areas that otherwise would be devoid of wildlife.
Personally, I like pigeons. They're easily familiar to even novice birders, they aren't afraid of human contact and their behavior is fascinating. Granted, I don't have flocks of pigeons descending on my birdfeeders, nor is my backyard overrun with their voracious appetites. I enjoy their wide color and personality variations, and they're just plain fun to watch and to feed.
Yes! They do. I have chickens and pigeons in an aviary. Besides the proper food which I buy at the feed store and contains all the grain and vitamins, we feed them leftovers. Sometimes there are pieces of meat included and the chickens as well as the pigeons will eat the pieces of meat. Any animal in the wild will search for the food they like the best but when in captivity and if hungry they will eat anything. I have seen rabbits eat chicken meat and wild pigeons eating form the street whatever is on the ground. José M. Raposo

Is pigeon droppings harmful to you?
Pigeon poop carries harmful bacteria that forms in the dried droppings, You can get seriously ill from any of their droppings but the most harm is in the dried form. If it is a low amount of droppings you will most likely not be affected in anyway if there is ventilation and you are heathly. If the place is saturated with old droppings you MUST wear protection. The harm is when the dust from the droppings comes in contact with mucous membranes which means eyes, nose, mouth etc. You need to wear a NIOSH approved respirator, the one that covers your nose and mouth and had the filters on the sides. Wear gloves and sealed eye protection, try not to expose your skin too much. Decon your self after words. If you contact this stuff you could become infected with menagitis that attacks your central nervous system and can cause death in a matter of 24 hours if not treated instantly. If you get treated you still may risk neurological damage, lung damage or other side effects. This is not a joke, take a very militant aproach to protecting yourself, if your empoyer is calling you lazy or a wimp cause you dont want to risk it or wont provide you the protection QUIT NOW. This is your life, this is similar to working around heavy metals or trying to avoid mercury contamination. When in doubt, leave the area until you are confident that you have good protection.
Are Victoria Crowned Pigeons found in rainforests?
Yes they are, to be accurate they are found in north of New Guinea.
As often as they are fed, or if they are precocial (they leave the nest after hatching - like chickens), as often as they find food. It also depends on the species - some sea-birds in particular may be fed only once a day or even less often. For most garden birds, in good weather and good habitat, chicks will eat every few minutes, but they can only go for a day or so with very little to eat before they will die.

Can you have a park pigeon as a pet?
Yes they do!
Although many people consider them unclean and pests, they make great pets for people of all ages. I have a Tame Pigeon who I raise from a two Day old chick, a Pure White Fantail called Jingles, who is a joy to own, and has allowed me to share a common intrest with some very nice people I was otherwise never have met.
Having a Pigeon as a child is great for self-esteem. A tame Pigeon will happily sit on your arm or shoulder as you walk around, will fly off when it wants, but will also always come back! To have a loyal friend who chooses to stay with you when they could just fly off is the best feeling ever.
And Pigeons are smart too! A pigeon can recognise itself in live video feeds, and in video with up to a 7 seccond delay, while a three year old human child can only do this with up to a two seccond delay. My Jingles can also press buttons on my camera and loves watching TV with me, and because he hates the sound of my Allarm clock, he wakes me up every morning only a few minutes before it goes off!
All my pigeons, both Tame and not tame, have individual characters when you get to know them. Jingles is protective but social with people, Ruby is motherly but shy, Layla is lazy and not the best mother, Nibbles is a dedicated father and is rather brave, Dakoda courts any female at every chance but will run from a fight with her mate, Ricky is nervus and seems to tip-toe around all the others. I could go on and on.
It is very relaxing tp watch your pigeon, even if it is just having a bath or gathering things for its nest (both genders do this, even when they have no mate). And the feelings you get from watching their lives just can not be described, but it is somthing that once you start, you will be almost Garenteed to keep doing it for a LONG time.
Another benifit for parents to let their children raise Pigeons, is that it is basicly almost unheard of for children who have grown up raising pigeons and continue to as Adults to engage in criminal activity as young adults, or to get into drugs or other undesirable activitys. It also encorages interaction between the older and younger generations of pigeon keepers. There are older fanciers in my pigeon club who have had very intyeresting lives and very good advice, that I would never heard if I hadnt had my intrest in Pigeons.
Yes. These can be from household pets like dogs and cats, to wild animals, such as foxes, racoons, wolves, etc. This is why they are extremely protective over themselves and their babies.
