you can hatch a sparrow egg by putting on to soft pillows and or putting it on a hankercheif and putting a lamp over the egg and see if you have ant luck with that and another thing is you don't want to put your scent on the egg too much or it sometimes will not hatch

If it smells that means it is dead..But if it doesnt then its good,Also you can pick it up and hold it up to a light or candal and if it has brown spots inside of it..It is alive..if it doesnt then its not...But reamber be quick and gentle when you pick it up..and you must keep it warm..not to warm though

put it under a heat-lamp in an enclosed area such as a small shed, or a cardboard box in your kitchen. if the chicks cluster under the heat-lamp its needs to be lowered if as far away as possible raise it. if they are spread evenly around it is just right. feed it on chick crumbs, obtainable from most animal feed shops. preferably these should be in red containers. water should also be provided.

Yes! They do. I have chickens and pigeons in an aviary. Besides the proper food which I buy at the feed store and contains all the grain and vitamins, we feed them leftovers. Sometimes there are pieces of meat included and the chickens as well as the pigeons will eat the pieces of meat. Any animal in the wild will search for the food they like the best but when in captivity and if hungry they will eat anything. If it is a low amount of droppings you will most likely not be affected in anyway if there is ventilation and you are heathly. If the place is saturated with old droppings you MUST wear protection. The harm is when the dust from the droppings comes in contact with mucous membranes which means eyes, nose, mouth etc. You need to wear a NIOSH approved respirator, the one that covers your nose and mouth and had the filters on the sides. Wear gloves and sealed eye protection, try not to expose your skin too much. Decon your self after words. If you contact this stuff you could become infected with menagitis that attacks your central nervous system and can cause death in a matter of 24 hours if not treated instantly. If you get treated you still may risk neurological damage, lung damage or other side effects. This is not a joke, take a very militant aproach to protecting yourself, if your empoyer is calling you lazy or a wimp cause you dont want to risk it or wont provide you the protection QUIT NOW. This is your life, this is similar to working around heavy metals or trying to avoid mercury contamination. When in doubt, leave the area until you are confident that you have good protection.

I have a Tame Pigeon who I raise from a two Day old chick, a Pure White Fantail called Jingles, who is a joy to own, and has allowed me to share a common intrest with some very nice people I was otherwise never have met.

Having a Pigeon as a child is great for self-esteem. A tame Pigeon will happily sit on your arm or shoulder as you walk around, will fly off when it wants, but will also always come back! To have a loyal friend who chooses to stay with you when they could just fly off is the best feeling ever.

All my pigeons, both Tame and not tame, have individual characters when you get to know them. Jingles is protective but social with people, Ruby is motherly but shy, Layla is lazy and not the best mother, Nibbles is a dedicated father and is rather brave, Dakoda courts any female at every chance but will run from a fight with her mate, Ricky is nervus and seems to tip-toe around all the others. I could go on and on.

It is very relaxing tp watch your pigeon, even if it is just having a bath or gathering things for its nest (both genders do this, even when they have no mate). And the feelings you get from watching their lives just can not be described, but it is somthing that once you start, you will be almost Garenteed to keep doing it for a LONG time.

Another benifit for parents to let their children raise Pigeons, is that it is basicly almost unheard of for children who have grown up raising pigeons and continue to as Adults to engage in criminal activity as young adults, or to get into drugs or other undesirable activitys. It also encorages interaction between the older and younger generations of pigeon keepers. There are older fanciers in my pigeon club who have had very intyeresting lives and very good advice, that I would never heard if I hadnt had my intrest in Pigeons.
