What is the role of the drum master?
In African drumming, the title of master drummer is given to a drummer who is well known by other masters for his high skill and knowledge. It is a title passed down from a master to his pupil, after he has learned all there is to know about the African drum.
In general, a master drummer has given his whole life to the djembe and dunun. He is able to play any part of any rhythm for his ethnic group and neighbouring ethnic groups, in any ceremonial situation. He also knows the songs and dances that go with each rhythm. A drummer can play for twenty years before he or she is given the status of 'Master'.
Another type of master drummer is a person who leads other drummers in playing drum rhythms, e.g. in the French Caribbean styles, the master drummer may be called "kamande" in French Creole.

Its an okay starter kit. I had one and replaced the drum heads with Evans EC2's and EC resonant and also replaced the snare heads with Evans ST dry and hazy 300. It sounded good. Oh and i replaced the bass drum with an aquarian super kick batter and evans with port hole reso. Also sound good.
Are there music scales on the drums?
Drum notation differs completely from normal musical notation. On for example a piano when you see a note on the stave it corresponds to a note on the piano, the same note. On a drum kit however each note on the stave represents a different drum. There is then also different symbols for other parts like the hi-hats.
If you are talking about tuning then you can tune drums to any note, but i advise you to tune the drums to the notes of the song if you are playing along to one or just to what you like. Obviously the smaller the drum the higher higher the sound will be anyway.

What does a 5 piece drum set with hardware include?
I'm not really sure I understand this question, but I'll try my best.
When determining how many pieces of a drumset, the cymbals are not included. Ever. Cymbals are extra and are not included in the "pieces" of a drumet, as only the actually drums are counted. A drumset with three toms, a snare drum, a bass drums, hi-hat, crash, ride and splash is a five piece drum set because it has three toms, one bass and on snare. 3+1+1=5. if you took the same drumset and added one bass, two toms, two crashes and a splash, it would still only be an eight piece set. 5 (toms) + 2 (basses) +1 (snare) = eight (drums).
I'm not sure if this answers your question or not, but I hope it sets you in the right direction.
Also called steel pans, the "pan" is made of a steel that can be hardened, it is hammered into shape having local raised areas and depressions. the steel is hardened and the bumps will resonate when struck with rubber hammers making the sound. Different size bumps resonate at different frequencies giving method of tuning the areas of the pan.
