Why is a drum major called a drum major if they do not play the drums?
He's only there to keep the beat and lead the band
What are basic skills playing drums?
I'm assuming you mean for snare drum.
If that is true there are two basic grips. There is a traditional grip(older) and matched grip(newer).
A basic matched grip is made by extending your hand like you are about to shake hands with someone and then just "shaking hands with the stick". Your thumb should be on the side of the stick pointing towards the bead(the small tip that you hit on the drum). Then you just close the four remaining fingers around the stick comfortably. You should have white knuckles from gripping it to tightly but it also shouldn't feel like the stick is going to fall out of your hand. With a standard snare stick the butt end(the end you don't hit on the drum) should be sticking out about 1 inch from your closed hand.
If you are standing, the snare drum should be at about belt height with the snare lever(how you turn the snares on and off) directly in front of you on the closest side.
To make a basic stroke put the tips of both sticks on the center of the drum head. They should make the shape of a piece of pie(about a 70 degree angle but it's fairly variable from player to player). Then using the wrist and some propulsion from the fore-arm strike the bead of the stick on the center of the snare drum.
How can you change the loudness of drums?
Its hard to understand what you mean, so I'll sort of post a bunch of ways to make a drum louder.

Zildjian, Paiste, Sabian, and meinl, have great drummers and have great sounds.
Zildjian is famous for being the first cymbals made. When you buy zildjian many people are just buying them for the name. However they do have good sound I recommend the a custom or a series. They have quite a few drum endorses which include the drummer from linkin park(Rob Burdon), Carter Buford, and the great buddy rich!!

For Paiste they are the third biggest cymbal company and my personal favorite.
Joey jordison, Nicko Mcbrian, are both avid paiste lovers as well others.
Paiste has made many innovations to the cymbal community such as the edged bottom hi-hat flat rides and flat bells.

Sabian the second largest cymbal company has quite an interesting background.
It was tradition that the father of the zildjian family pass down the formula to the oldest son but Avedis Zildjian III passed it down to both his son Armand Zildjian and Robert Zildjian. The was a conflict between Robert and Armand so Robert split from Zildjian and formed Sabian cymbals Sa from his daughter sandy, bi from his son billy, and an from his daughter anne. Sabian cymbals are known for having some of the worlds greatest artist. Tony Royster Jr., Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Chad Smith, and tons others.

Meinl is the 4th largest and are great cymbals!
The have a very nice range of cymbals with amazing sounds.
Meinl and Paiste are both considered the Euro style sound.
The great thomas lang is one of meinl cymbal artists.

So basically Is all boils down to personal preference. You can go to your local music shop and try out cymbals. See what you like and what you don't like.

What musical instruments start with letter C?
1)claranet 2)clapping sticks(i'm in primary school) 3)umm err i forgot the rest
The basic beginner drum set usually includes (to the far left) a cymbal called a hi hat which looks like two cymbals on top of each other. The cymbal (in the diagram) at the top in the middle is called crash and comes in many sizes from 13" to 19" usually. The cymbal (in the diagram) to the far right is a ride and is usually bigger than the crash. the flat drum beside the hi hat is the most used drum on the drum set and is called a snare drum. The big drum on the bottom is called a bass drum. The two drums on top of the bass drum are called rack toms and the drum on the ground is called a floor tom.
Now that's just the basic drum set. As beginner drummers progress and get money perhaps they tend to want to expand their drum set to mach their talent. Some othe cymbals are the china or Chinese cymbal and almost looks inside out or wavy. Splash cymbals are small ranging from 4" to 12" also there are cymbals called accents that look like splashes but have a very ringy high pitched sound. Cowbells, wood blocks and tamborines are sometimes added to sets to add different dimentions to the sound.
That's about it but there are other unusual peices of equipment that are sometimes added to drum sets.
What is the name of the bottom head of a drum?
well it depends on what kind of drum you are talking about. if you are talking about a snare, the bottom head shuts off all the ringing sound and adds a surface for the springs to "buzz" up against. without it it will sound like a tom.
it's a symbol, part of a drum kit and makes a clang-like sound when stuck with a drumstick.. it's a thin, mostly flat piece of metal that is suspended in the air on a pole...surely you've heard one, unless you don't listen to music at all
Does a base drum provide rhythm for music?
The bass drum generally provides a strong beat for the music. Mostly played on a downbeat, or the other strong beats in that meter (Time Signature)
How do you make a lower pitch in a drum?
You tighten or loosen the head, the drum's membrane, (very carefully). A tighter head will give a higher pitch. To avoid shearing stress on the head, you want to make sure that tension is as evenly distributed across the head as possible.
How many cymbals are there in a basic drum kit?
It all depends on what you want to call a drum kit. So I guess it's anything with at least 2 percussion instruments of which at least 1 is a drum.
Some drum kits (if we're talking about non live players) have big drum kits on their harddrives. I personally like each of my kits to contain
10 kicks
10 snares
10 hi hats
10 open hi hats
Etc...
The melody controls the feel which dictates the rythms of the accompaniment.

Answer:
Answer
The D'jembe is made from goat skin and originally lenge wood, although modern drums can be made from most materials.

A djembe is made from a light wood inside a metal brace which can hold it together. Then, a piece of goat skin is placed on top which is then tightly strapped to the base of the drum by a stretchable cord.(Like a rubber band) Lastly, mored cords are connected to the sides of the drum, continuing all the way around forming x's on the sides. ( HINT: the djembe is shaped like a goblet, and is hard to make)Answer:Animal skin and trees.
