Which drums are in the orchestra?
There are many percussion instruments that can be used in the symphony orchestra, but the most common are timpani, bass drum and cymbals, also the triangle.
Materials used to make a drum set?
From top to bottom:
The heads: Modern heads are usually made from plastic. Marching drum heads can be made from Kevlar, but heads on drums played indoors are polyester. Older drums had heads made of calfskin, and you can still get skin heads.
Head hoops and tuning lugs: Metal, usually. Some hoops are wood, and some drums are "rope tuned"--a rope holds the hoops on, and you tune the drum by adjusting the rope's tension.
Shells: Normally wood. Some snares are metal. There are also plexiglass drum shells, like the Ludwig Vistalite. The two most popular woods are maple and birch.
Snare strainers on snare drums: Either wire or catgut.
Miscellaneous: Drum Workshop sells a special pillow to put in a bass drum to change its sound; it's just a regular pillow.

in my opinion, Mapex, Pearl, or Tama would be a much better bet. millennium and dxp are both off brands. if you need a less expensive drumset, check brands on guitarcenter.com. any brand they have should listed will be better than other obscure brands.
With decades of experience in drumming, I find the answer to drum sounds to be associated with the wood chosen to manufacture the drum as well as the methods used to cut the bearing edges, therefore the question is not a easily answered as simply picking a manufacturer. The answer is more related to the sound one wishes to produce with the drum
If one is looking for muffled but hollow log sound without much tonal effect, the drum manufacturer does not matter all that much, about anything will suffice
If one is looking for a jazz tone the the wood used to manufacture the drums is best if its maple, however Maple usually falls short on volume
If one is looking for projection of the sound with volume and tone then other woods such as birch and oak will provide that type of sound
Metal drums provide a very distinct crack sound like that of a whip, which is why they are often associated with Snare drum design. Its not uncommon for a snare drum to be different than other kit drums as a snare must provide the distinctive sound one desires.
The shell ply has a lot to do with resonance, thin shells tend to resonate more while thick shells resonate less but project more
Smaller drums provide higher pitches and add tone and color to the overall sound
The more tuning lugs there are on a drum the more even a head can be tuned the less lugs on a drum the less control over even tension there is. Usually smaller drums will have less lugs than larger drums and less expensive drums with have less lugs than expensive drums (contain the costs)
Finally there are the plethora of heads on the market today which can change the sound of a drum entirely. There are clear, coated, dotted, hydraulic, muffled etc. and variations within those groups so the choices can be mind boggling with heads ... Coated Ambassador is a good starting point
Cymbals are yet another different arena themselves but rest assured that the Sabian B8 20in ride is the mainstay of most kits in use today. After that crash, splash cymbals, high hats cymbals, and special effects cymbals, are a matter of personal preference and financial capability.
Therefore many things need to be considered when deciding on drums, especially kits. Its best to get the sound you are looking for initially as opposed to purchasing 2 or even 3 sets of drums as a progression toward finding that sound.
Don't be afraid of used drums as most are quite durable and can survive road use for decades while still holding their sound.

CB Drums
Actually they started out as Pearl Drum company's entree into the American drum market. They were originally marketed as "house" brands for west-coast music stores. There are many different versions about them but "Carl Bruno" had something to do with them.
What influenced buddy rich to play drums?
Buddy Rich was supposedly a child prodigy. His first and main influence into the world of drumming was his father, who noticed that Buddy could keep perfect time while banging a spoon at the age of one. I guess you could say that is how he became a drummer, natural talent and his father's direction.
What are cymbals typically made of?
The cymbals can be made out of a few different type of metals. Zildjian, Paiste, Sabian, Meinl, and others use brass, and bronze, with different copper to tin ratios of different types of bronze. The main metal used for cymbal making is bronze. Cymbal companies will typically use brass for absolute beginner cymbals because it has a harsher tone than the bronze.
What is the skin of the drum called?
They used to really be made from skin--calfskin, goatskin, IIRC Ralph MacDonald used to play pelican skin. Here's some fun drumhead history for you: When Slingerland first made Radio King snares, they headed them with damp calfskin. They wanted the head to shrink to its final tension. This is great, except for when the damp head warped the shell as it dried. Today, most heads are made from Mylar. Marching heads are made from Kevlar. You can still get skin heads, but most of us play plastic heads.
The top of the drum, also called the head, is where the drummer hits the drum. Originally, it was made out of animal skin, but now they're almost exclusively made of some sort of plastic, usually one or several layers of mylar. Alternatively, marching drums sometimes use kevlar due to the tremendous amounts of pressure put on the drum heads by the high tuning
What is the best drum set in the world?
The biggest drum kit ever belongs to Mark Temperato (RevM). It contains 65 drums and 70 cymbals with over 500 pieces all together.
The best drum kit, however, all comes down to personal taste...
What are the types of drums in drum and bass?
To make a Dubstep bassline you need music software that allows you to make complex LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) modulations, because LFOs are an important part of Dubstep Baselines. Most music software, however, doesn't let you create complex LFO waveforms. Evolvor, sound design application created by Percussa, can be used together with Ableton Live to draw your own LFO waveforms, and use this to control the parameters in your midi mapping. Check out the link below to read the blog post that describes step by step how to create a Dubstep Bassline with Evolvor and Ableton Live.
What are the important parts of the snare drum?
Batter head Batter head hoop Double-ended lugs Shell Snare-side head hoop Snare-side head Snare Throw-off Snare butt end Snare strainer Vent grommet The vent grommet normally secures the nameplate Very occasionally you'll see a snare drum on an isolation mount like you'd mount a tom, but that's normally done when someone plays piccolo snare.
Which are better - Zildjian planet Z or Sabian B8?
Sabian B8 cymbals are of a higher quality. Zildjian Planet Z are made from brass, while Sabian B8 are made from bronze. There is no comparison between brass and bronze for cymbal quality. The more fair comparison would be between Zildjian Planet Z and Sabian Solar. Both are sheet cymbals made from brass. They are both decent quality for what they are, which is an entry level product. Any cymbals that are made from brass are made from brass for one reason and one reason only, and that is to hit the lowest possible price point. Brass is much better used for candle stick holders, rather than cymbals. It is very limited in its sonic possibilities.
What was Eric carrs first drum set?
I can't say for sure. I think the brand was Ludwig. I don't believe the info is posted on the Internet. But for sure, I know Eric used Ludwig during KISS.
How do you write music for a drum set?
To make it easier I have highlited the drums and did the best explaining I could. Most of this is for right handed drummers but for the left handed drummers do this but visa versa To set up a drum set, you have to first put the Bass Drum down in a comfortable spot for it will be the base of the drum set and the middle of your drum set ( It's the biggest drum). Then, you should put on both Tom Tom(s) (The smallest one unless you have two) they go in the to poles sticking out of the Bass Drum. The Tom Tom(s) should just slide right on because they have two large holes horizontally in each side. Next I would put down the Snare Drum (the one with beads strapped to the bottom of it). It goes on a stand with three legs and three arms. Now if you are right handed you put it down on the left side of the Bass Drum right next to it (horizontally) but sticking out about five inches forward. If you are left handed, visa versa. Then there's the Floor Tom. The Floor Tomgoes on you right just like the Snare Drum except the Floor Tom goes on the opposite side from the Snare Drum (its the second biggest drum) (Visa Versa for left handed). Now the symbols fall into place. To put in the HiHat you put it right next to the Snare Drum on the left side but still giving you enough room to hit the Snare Drum (Visa Versa if your left handed). Your Ride Symbolgoes on your right side (Visa Versa if your left handed) and it goes in the middle of Tom Tom Two and the Floor Tom. Then there's the Crash Symbol. The Crash Symbol goes on the left side right behind Tom Tom One and the Snare Drum (Visa Versa if your left handed. And finally the Medium Crash Symbol. It goes right behind Tom Tom One and Tom Tom Two (This cannot be Visa Versa'd)
dun duns are usually about as tall as a chair you would find in a primary or high school and are very heavy
What was the first drum-set made of?
You will never get a precise answer on this one. Drums were once used as a form of communication (signals.) African drums (in some parts of Africa today) are a spoken language and used for talking over great distance. In Sri Lanka history drums were also used for communication and have a history stretching back 2500 years ago. Japanese troops used then to keep a marching pace and to motivate their troops. The snare drum, which is a large drum was carried over the soldiers right soldier and suspended by a trap and that's when the English word "drum" came into play. The oldest known drums date back to 3000 bc.
A better answer is about one hundred years old. Of course drums are ageless having existed from prehistory but the "Drum Set" didn't really exist until the first practical spring loaded bass drum pedal was invented in 1909 by William F. Ludwig Sr. You may be aware of Ludwig drums. The founder of Ludwig was W.F. Ludwig Sr. and he held the patent to the first practical bass drum pedal. There were various bass drum pedals developed before this but they proved to be far from practical. The creation of the first bass pedal with a spring to recreate the rebound of a stick off the head of a drum, in my opinion, heralds the true birth of the"Drum Set." Happy onehundredth birthday drum set!
yes... well kind of. Toms can have their pitch changed by tightening or loosening the drum head. ( the tighter it is, the higher the pitch. the looser it is, the deeper its pitch)
You can change the sound cymbals make by how hard you hit them, and were you hit them. for example if u hit the edge of a ride cymbal, its makes a low long lasting sound, but if u hit the top it makes a short, high pitched sounds. You can also change the sound of cymbals by turning them upside down, which affects how the echo.
I hope this helped!
further clarification: toms and cymbals are referred to as "unpitched percussion", while some other drums, like timpani, have a more exact pitch, and are called, therefore, pitched percussion.
what creates this distinction is how many overtones and how strong the overtones of the drum are. with a tom, for instance, there is no pitch that specifically is a "fundamental tone" but several clusters of tones ring out along the pitch spectrum, so that all you hear is its characteristic thud. it is technically "noise" and not "pitch". so, this is how you can have a relatively "low" or "high" tom, but you can't necessarily play a clear A440 tone from said drum.
Are dynamic percussion drums good to use?
Yes they are very very good drums. Particularly their snares. They make even kid sets. But their travel 4 and 5 piece sets are great professional sets.
What are names of different kinds of African drums?
The parts of a drum are:
Which kind of energy is produced when a student beats a drum?
As high as you can lift you can lift your wrist. I'm going to warn you - DO NOT LIFT YOUR ARMS TO STRIKE A DRUM. Unless of course you like muscle strains. If you do this - your arm will receive to shock through your arm and you will be hurting!
Pearl drum sets are a high quality and recommended by many drummers, but it's mostly up to the drummer to decide which sound he/ she want there drum set to sound like. but with the sound the skins also play a role. But if you want a top-end drum set you should probably go with pearl or ask the employee at the music store (where u are thinking of purchasing the drum set) what he/ she prefers.
