It has been questioned again and again if Criss play the drums on this song and as far as I have researched the matter nothing confirms or denies this issue. 'Larger Than Life' contains some of KISS finest drumming from the 70's period and by the time it was recorded in the summer of 1977 (probably even earlier as it's been said to have been the first of the 5 new songs recorded the Alive II album) Peter was heavily on drugs and performed VERY uneven. Simmons wrote the song and wanted a Led Zeppelin type of groove and this is where I question if an outside session drummer was brought in to cut the track. Peter was never a John Bonham type of drummer. Peters best work is somewhere around 1975. Although never confirmed or denied I strongly believe that Peter Criss never played on this song. Who did is a mystery as Anton Fig (who would be a contender as he was recording with guitarist Frehley at the time) denies any contribution. The other contender is Alan Swartzberg who later did drumwork for the band but although a much better drummer this type of drumming is not his style.

That depends on whether you are talking about the really cheap CB Percussion equipment that is being made today or the shells that were made by Pearl in the 1960's and 1970's and distributed in the US market by Carl Bruno's CB Drums as CB-700 (much as other corps like Maxwin, Stewart, Ideal, etc. did). Pearl stopped building shells for other companies to distribute toward the end of the 70's or beginning of the 80's if I remember correctly. The last Pearl supplied shells for CB-700 were in 1977-8 I think (that is second or third hand info, so don't hold me to it). Hope that helps!

Drum majors are usually assigned by the band director, at my school you have to talk to your band director to be eligible for drum major, and at the end of the year he announces the new drum major, but schools might do it differently.

The short answer is, snare, symbols and kick pedal.

Some would also include hi-hat stand, others would also include symbol stands and drum stool.

You should also bring a bag with miscellaneous spares (washers, bolts, springs, etc.)

Normally at a gig with more than one band playing, the headlining band provide the backline; amps (bass n guitar) and the main body of the drum kit (bass drum, and most of the time, symbol stands) which are shared.

During the turnaround, each drummer puts on their own breakables.

Always have respect for other peoples equipment! Even if your under pressure and in a rush!

Most of the time you'll have around 15 minutes for the turnaround which is plenty of time.

The two main reasons for drummers bringing their own breakables are that most drummers want their own sound from the snare and symbols, which can vary dramatically.

The other is that, as the name suggests, breakables sometimes break.

As you've guessed by now the definition of breakables varies.

Most of the time (in the UK and Ireland anyway), it'll be;

snare, symbols and kick. Sometimes snare kick, symbols, stands and stool.

If in any doubt, ask whoever is organising the gig.

It is a pair of hand drums used in North India, about a foot high and having a very resonant tone due to an application on the skin which is made in a special way to control the resonance. One of the drums is smaller and higher-pitched, usually around 5 inches in diameter, another giving a much lower bass tone. It is one of the world's only drums with a clearly defined musical pitch.

Its playing style is very complex, having a series of mnemonic syllables corresponding to about 50 individual types of sounds. Two distinct pitches are possible on the smaller drum, one produced by an open stroke, another by placing the fourth finger on the edge of the black application and striking the skin with the second finger while keeping the others clear of the drum's surface. The tones are separated by 1 less than an octave(if the higher harmonic is D, the lower harmonic is the E below).

the difference between a drum kit and a drum machine is that a drum kit you perform naturally with your hands using sticks to change the pitch on whether it is high or low, and a drum machine is like a little electronic board where all you have to do is choose which percussion instrument you want and edit the way the rhythm sounds. personally i prefer the drum machine, much easier ;)
a drum kit is an instrument that you can play. a drum machine is a computer that generates a drum track. drum machines are commonly used in techno and hip-hop.

Bonham did use Ludwig 2A for a while the 2A back in the seventies was slightly thinner than a 2b. The thing is back then much lighter smaller sticks were the norm. As amplification improved drums were no longer the loudest instrument and drummers needed to pull more power and volume from the kit.

With guys like Bonham , Cozy Powell and Carmine Appice sticks got bigger and now the average is somewhat larger than the 70's.

It is the surface of the drum shell that actually touches the drum head.

The area of this surface is less than that of a cross-section of the whole shell, since it is created by making an angled cut into the shell around the rim.

The thickness or thinness of the bearing edge affects the tone of the drum; finer or sharper bearing edges yield a brighter tone, while thicker bearing edges yield a warmer tone.

If the bearing edge is not perfectly level and perpendicular to the cylinder of the shell, the drum head will not seat properly and the tone of the drum will suffer.

Back in 1987 Modern Drummer had a contest,drummers had to submit a taped solo performace and the top three Won Neils Candy Red Tama,and the Slingerland Kits from the 70's.The Candy Red Kit has been completely restored to perfection,which it deserved.I don't know what happened to the Slingerland kits and the First Tama rosewood kit.As far as the Ludwig kit and previous DW kits,I would guess he still Owns them.

I can tell you that many different drums and cymbals were used. Some were old drums in the Hall of Justice in Seattle and I used my seventies Slingerland kit for the later sessions in San Francisco. Jason McGerr, the drummer in Death Cab For Cutie, lent me some snare drums for the Seattle sessions. As far as cymbals, I think I was still using Zildjians ( A Customs I think) at the time though I have happily switched to Paiste. Giant Beats and 2002s. That's all i can remember, sorry. Ira Elliot

A Tubano is a recent invention of Remo Percussion. You play it like a regular hand drum like the conga or djembe, that is with bass, open and slap tones. It was made as a easy-to-use, entry-level drum that pretty much anyone could play. Honestly there's really nothing too special about the history as it was only invented recently.

At its most basic, a drum machine is a special kind of electronic instrument designed to provide the user drum loops in the absence of a live drummer. Early drum machines featured a selection of prerecorded drum loops in different styles that could be played back with the flip of a switch or turn of a knob. Modern machines will also play back preset loops, but most also offer the user a way to edit and customize the loops himself using manual controls and a built-in "sequencer." Unlike other synthesizers which may have a piano-style keyboard and provide the user with a variety of instrumental sounds, the sounds available from a drum machine are generally limited to drum & percussion sounds along with relevant sound effects.

There are no specific pattern to gospel drum beats. Gospel music today ranges in style and genre from country to rock to metal. If you want to play drums for a gospel band, simply play it as you feel it and how it suits the style of the bands music.

The rising action is when Jeffrey falls off the kitchen barstool and loses a lot of blood, that's when the family finds out that Jeffrey has leukemia. The climax could either be when Jeffrey is diagnosed with leukemia or when Steven leaves his important band concert to take his brother to the hospital near the end of the book.
