From an intellectual standpoint, and production values, Family Guy is the more polished form, including a ridiculous number of sometimes absurd cultural references. But South Park takes biting parody to a new level (some would say even a cruel one), overcoming its minimalistic form of animation. Needless to say, its cutting edge, no-holds-barred humor appeals more to younger viewers.

South Park is funnier.

South Park all the way, b*tch! Family guy has too much sexual humor, very boring, not funny one bit. South Park has more laughs and jokes and is still going with new episodes, and not to forget that it has WAY more episodes than Family Guy.

Family Guy is funnier.

Actually, Family Guy is funnier (if you get its jokes) and has better animation. However, South Park seems to be more original with their storylines.

South Park is more original and funnier than Family Guy. What's the point of watching stupid flashbacks and getting the joke 5 minutes later?

You would have to be a TV and film buff as old as Seth McFarlane. Or older : Peter scores a touchdown for the Patriots and we get a musical production number based on Shipoopi from The Music Man in 1957! -- Brian tells his analyst he's worried about his mortality, and has a dream sequence from the dystopian Logan's Run (1976).

South Park uses a lot of swearing that Family Guy (on network) cannot.

NO CHARACTER is funny in Family Guy, especially compared to South Park. Peter to Randy (Stan's dad)? Randy rules.

South Park can be vicious (Kennedy's in Hell) or outrageous ('People who bother you' on Wheel of Fortune are 'naggers'). But Family Guy can also be adolescently gross (vomiting, people bleeding all over the floor).

South Park is better because it has funnier jokes, more episodes, and it has an actual movie of its own (South Park- Bigger, Longer, and Uncut). Family Guy is described in 2 words, "not funny", or "very boring".

I personally think that South Park is better, because Family Guy is just not that funny and South Park is way more original. Also, the timing on Family Guy just bothers me so much.

There is no definitive answer as the question is subjective, but here are some things to consider:

South Park has won two Emmy's.

Family Guy has won three Emmy's, and is also the first animated series to be nominated as top comedy series since 1961 (The Flintstones), when the category was known by the exceptionally whimsical name of Outstanding Program Achievement in the Field of Humor.

Another show to mention is the Simpsons, which has won ten Emmy's. It also includes a lot of absurd or surreal humor.

I love the fact that as soon as facts like: Family Guy is higher rated and has won MORE awards in a shorter life time than South Park, all the South Park fans shut their dumb faces.

Family Guy has jokes, South Park relies on cursing and they joke about one damn thing for a whole episode.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker and their voice pitch correcting studio magic (they use studio computers to change the sound and pitch of all their characters) have NOTHING on Seth MacFarlane.

South Park is a train wreck of an abortion and I've seen much funnier abortions.

King Of The Hill is better than South Park, and we all know King Of The Hill is the worst.

Btw, just wait until Family Guy responds to that Family Guy parody episode (aka: the jealousy episode where South Park's creators are jealous of Family Guy.)

Family Guy will spend 1-minute ruining South Park and then move on, because South Park is not worth their time and not worth a WHOLE episode!

Another thing, yes, Cleveland Show is awful, but American Dad is improving and is DEFINITELY better than South Park.

Who wants to talk about Kenny and Spenny, the failed Matt Stone Trey Parker show that FAILED?!

Who wants to compare Ted's box-office earnings compared to South Park's movie box-office earning?

Ted is the highest grossing R-rated movie!

On top of that, where are all of South Park's spin-off shows?

They are two guys and Seth MacFarlane is one man.

Stop lying to yourself, South Park is a headache inducing boringness.

He apparently has an evil twin brother named Thaddeus & an unnamed hermaphrodite sibling which he calls his broster.

Although it should be noted that both the siblings are most likely figments of Peter's imagination since Thaddeus is not seen or mentioned by Thelma when she recounts the story of Peter's birth in Mexico and the Broster has never been referred to before or after the appearance in Brothers & Sisters.

Peter does however have a sister-in-law, Carol and 2 brothers-in-law, Adam West & Patrick.
