Never, EVER, cut a fentanyl patch! The patch is designed to time release the medication through the material. If you cut the patch, the medication's release will no longer be appropriately "time-released". Technically, you are supposed to wash your hands after applying the patch as well. Fentanyl is 80 times stronger than morphine and can easily put someone into a coma or kill them if they are abused. If these patches have been prescribed for you, it is imperative to follow the instructions exactly as prescribed, and to be certain to wash your hands after applying. Cutting a patch could inadvertently release the medication in a significantly quicker manner, and cause a lot of harm. It is very dangerous.

Nothing. just a lot of water and heat. Don't use a cotton, it'l clog your pin. It's thick, so u have to heat it and mix it a lot to suck it up.

50 mg would kill you dead. No question. The correct dosage you are seeking is 50 mcg, micrograms, instead of milligrams. The difference: 50mcg = .05mg 100mcg = .1mg 1000mcg = 1mg.

It depends on how you take it. I'm finding the most common answer to state potentially up to 3 days or 72 hours but it depends on if its a patch you wear, a patch you're putting in your mouth, or a pill you're eating. WEARING A PATCH ON YOUR SKIN SHOULD BE THE LONGEST DETECTION TIME BECAUSE IT WILL STORE IN YOUR FAT. I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT I THINK ORAL OR IV WOULD BE THE SHORTEST DETECTION TIME.

When used IV, they often start with 50 MICROGRAMS of Fentanyl for pain. If needed, they go up to 100 MICROGRAMS. In contrast if they are using morphine they give 1 MILLIGRAM then go up to 2 MILLIGRAMS. 1 MG = 1000 MICROGRAMS. So doing the math, the fentanyl is 20 times more potent (50 x 20 = 1000) The main difference is fentanyl wears off in an hour whereas the morphine will last 2-4 hours. Fentanyl is used in anesthesia, for pain pumps and epidurals where you need fine control. If you overdose with Fentanyl a single dose of NARCAN to reverse usually is all you need as the Narcan lasts longer than the fentanyl. If you over dose with Morphine you might needed repeated shots of the Narcan because the Morphine lasts longer than Narcan. The biggest danger of fentanyl is powdered fentanyl can be quickly absorbed thru the lungs or skin.

As far as concerns with Fentanyl transfer to a female during conception, it's a non-issue. The only real concerns are for nursing mothers using Fentanyl themselves, since Fentanyl is excreted in breast milk. No congenital defects have ever been reported by women who were using Fentanyl during pregnancy.

Yes you can. But it would be a waste for the most part. Methadone has blocking properties and will clog up your opiate receptors. Taking any opiate after Methadone is mostly useless. You will not feel any pleasurable effects from the other opiates. I have heard that taking other opiates with Methadone will help with pain, but that the euphoria of the opiate will not happen.

I currently am on fentanyl 100mcg with 4mg dilaudid and 50mg ultram. The patch and dilaudid are for my cronic back pain after major back surgery to remove 3 discs associated with spinalcerebellaratrophy also called opca. The ultram is for migraines.

I've used fentanyl patches in the past for chronic pain, but was not opioid-tolerant enough for them to be appropriate until now, several years later. Regarding the question, based both on experience and info I've found on the web, it takes fentanyl patches about 12 hours to begin working, and about 24-28 hours for peak pain relief to start. And, as I'm sure you know, they should last for (and one should only use one every) 2 - 3 days.

Duragesic takes a few hours to kick in and is supposed to last up to 72 hours (like how Oxycontin is supposed to last 12 hours) but most people find it lasts 36-60 hours. From my experience I've found fentanyl patches to last about 48-54 hours. 100 mgs all at once will kill you. Only VERY slow releasing patches come in high doses. Injections and pills come in micrograms...usually 50 or 100. 100 miligrams given all at once is a fatal overdose.....by a lot.

Fentanyl is a narcotic that is used to manage pain in chronic pain sufferers, people with cancer, people with allergies to other pain medications and other pain related situations. Fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. Hydromorphone or Dilaudid is 5 to 8 times more potent than morphine. Just to give you a comparison. The drug should not be taken recreationally and is highly addictive. I take it in patch form for my kidney condition and even after three years taking it I still get loads of side effects. Also you cannot just stop this cold turkey as you can die. I have gone to bed forgetting to replace the patch I removed after wearing for 72 hours, when I wake up less than 3-8 hours later I am curled in the fetal position, shaking and my whole body aches. Withdrawal is really bad. The upside however is that if this drug works for you it can be a good pain relief. In any case always ask your doctor first to see if you need narcotics and if fentanyl is right for you.

No. This can cause a potentially lethal overdose. Venlafaxine is a cytochrome P450 3A4 inhibitor which is the enzyme which metabolizes fentanyl. Levels of fentanyl can reach lethal doses as a result of this combination.

Yes you can, but like any drug you need to be aware of its effects on you, and how much more of a depressant effect it will have on you in addition to what you experience with Fentanyl. I've used Fiorinal w/ Codeine (Fiorinal uses aspirin rather than Tylenol, like Fioricet does) for over 20 years for Migraines, and have used 100mcg Fentanyl patches for about 9 years. The Butalbital in the Fiorinal is the only thing anymore that still makes me a bit drowsy - there are few things that can anymore with the amount of opiates I've had to take for so many years.

However, I'm highly tolerant to opiates and most depressants - it takes quite a bit to knock out most people who use Fentanyl on a regular basis, as Fentanyl is itself is used an an anesthetic normally. I'm also not a small person by any means - I'm 6' and 250 lbs.

Like with any drug you mix, it's always good to get your doctor's advice, since there may be other mitigating factors in your health that might preclude mixing the two. But as a general rule, there's no problem with using the two together, as they work a bit differently and on different areas of the body.

For storage, maintain them in a cool, dry, dark place, below 77°F in their original foil packaging. If you've taken one off for later use (yes, you can do that if you maintain the edges), put it on the plastic backing and then wrap in tin foil.

Just like any opiate, you'll start feeling the withdrawal effects, but they're gradual, not like pills, happening over a couple of hours. Usually you'll start feeling cold/clammy first, then if you haven't replaced it in time, the rest of the usual withdrawal symptoms kick in.

You really should wait the 18 hours maybe an hour or two less If you can’t take it anymore. It’s really hard but REALLY worth it. I went into detox and on that 18th hour I was kicking my legs and jolting all over and just wanted to sleep and finally got a sub and within a half hour probably I fell asleep and I woke up feeling pretty well.

I take 1/2 of 75mcg every 3rd day and just nod on the2nd day.

It makes my separated shoulder tolerable until it can be repaired in a few weeks.

I've been using these patches for several months now in different strenghs and have finally figured them out for me. when pain becomes constant and almost unbearable I dose up and await the next couple of days
