What is the proper way to clean ice skate blades?
The proper way to clean our ice skates is:
1. Get a paper towel, napkin, or wash cloth and wet it slightly
2. If there are a lot of dirt marks then put a little soap or dishwashing soap
3. Gently wipe the whole skate down
4.If you really really want them sparkling and want to get ALL of the scratch and dirt marks off you can use this chemical called Bestine, its safe but flammable (you can get it at your local hardware store)
5. Dry EVERYTHING with another paper towel or wash cloth
6. And lastly to clean the blade part just get a baby wipe and wipe it and dry it quickly and for no rust stains wipe the ice off after ice skating and put your soakers on the blade
Your skates will look good as new ( I wash mine once every week)

Where did roller skates replace ice skates?
Roller skates are very popular to this day... Although I bet you that people decided to stay indoors in the winter, rather than go rollerskating somewhere nearby... They probably thought-
"Wouldn't it be cool if we could roller-skate on ice?"
And vola! Ice-skates were born!
Kinda a pathetic answer but hey! Hoped it helped!
How four turns can put a figure in it's original position?
By turning an object, or figure each time, or 90 degrees, four times, you would have turned that object 360 degrees. 360 degrees = one full evolution or full circle.
Why do figure skaters skate backwards to do their jumps?
There are six basic figure skating jumps: three edge jumps (Axel, loop and salchow), and three toe jumps (Lutz, flip and toe loop). All of the jumps take off backwards except for the Axel, which goes off of a forward outside edge.
Most jumps take off backwards because (a) the backward edges are more secure and you can get better speed and better push and (b) jumps are landed backwards, so when you do an Axel, you are actually doing an extra 1/2 rotation. For example, a triple Axel is really 3.5 rotations in the air, which makes it more difficult.
How long does it take to land a single axel in figure skating?
It really depends on a lot of things, especially: how often you can get to the ice rink, if you have private or group lessons, your own skates, how comfortable on the ice you are and how good your sense of balance is, just to take a few reasons. I would say it could take anything from a month to a year or so, but as you are already at a level where you are beginning to learn a single axel, you are definitely capable. As long as you practice safely and listen to any advice from your coach, you will get there in the end. I wish you all the best luck in landing your axel! (As i don't know if you actually do have a coach or lessons, if you don't, please do. it will really help your tequnique, and your safety, as i think it is quite dangerous to try and learn by yourself. Most rinks offer sets of group lessons for quite a reasonable price)

What is a synchronized skating split lift?
A synchronized skating split lift is when a usually four girls lift one girl up in a split. The way this is done is there are two girls on either side of the "liftee" and they hold her hand with one hand and put their other hand in the girls armpit to support her. There are also two girls, one to hold the front leg and one to hold the back leg up in a split position. All of the arms of the girls lifting are locked straight to hold the liftee above them.
How do you increase and stop the spin in skating?
To increase the spin, pull in your arms and they will stop slowing the spin down. Keeping them out will slow the spin down and you will spin for a smaller period of time. To stop the spin, stick your toe-pick into the ice, and you will stop. I hoped that helped you! :D
