I have a terrarium with two red eared sliders, and 2 fire bellied toads along with many fish and other aquatic animals. I was wondering the same question. I have had mine living in a 100 gallon tank with my turtles for about a month now and they seem to get along. In fact, today the frogs were hanging onto the shell of my turtle enjoying a nice little ride. As far as I can tell, as long as there is plenty of food in your tank for the turtles to eat and not think of your frogs as prey they should be fine, but like I said I'm not sure.

blah balhh all right, you should not put a toad and a newt together just because they are both fire bellies they might fight all the time and the newt does not secrete as much as toxins as the toad does and also the newt is much stronger so he will kill your toad and maybe eat him and there are a lot more reasons to. I disagree with the previous poster. I kept 2 firebelly toads and a firebelly newt together in the same cage for years and they were fine. As long as they are about the same size, I can't imagine there is any way the newt will attempt to eat the frog.

You do not tell them apart like other animals.... There are different ways to tell. You have to look out for all of the signs. It will not be possible if you don't have more than two toads. I have 5 and I will be getting 1 or 2 more tomorrow. Okay, well here's what you do. First look at their front legs. Toads with thin front legs are girls; toads with thick legs are boys. Now you have to put on Latex gloves.(touching toads can poison you and the toads, trust me, toad poison burns) Grab one of your toad's hind legs (gently!) and spread out its feet. You have to look at the webbing. (the webbed feet they have for swimming) If the webbing goes all the way or most of the way up the toys it is a boy. If the webbing goes half way or less up the toes, it is a girl. Any toads that you hear making noises are definetly boys. I can't describe the noise, because each male toad has his own call(each of mine have 3). If any of your toads are mating(they look like one is hugging the other) the male is the one on top. Put all these clues together. You need all of them to tell.

Please do not attempt to mix amphibians with fish. It can not, and will not be successfull. They require totally different temperature ranges to live in and the newt will poison the water for the Betta. The basic rules of sucessfull fishkeeping are. :- 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water.(a Betta needs at least 3 gallons heated to around 78F) :- Every tank must have a permanently running 'cycled' filter. :- Every tank needs at least 50% of its water replaced every week. Follow the above and your fish will stand a chance of survival. Fail to follow them and I can guarantee that your fish will be constantly getting sick and will live a shortened lifespan.

If they arent same size they could get cage territorial and kill eachother, so make sure they are the same size OR around the same size, but have a big cage..mine, Violot, lives in a fish tank its BIG and she loves it and im getting her a friend frog today..he might be more than a friend though..idk. First of all, they are called Fire Bellied Toads, or Fire Belly Toads, not to be mean. As long as you have [wear] gloves when you hold them, your ok [safe]. I love to watch them at the pet stores, because they are very cute. I some day will own them, too, like many other fire bellied toad owners. Aks and do your research before you by them.:)

Usually around 40-45 days the tadpole will metamorphasize into a small toad and at that point you need to make sure you have plants and islands for them to live on
