What can you use for crawdad bait?
Crabs are known as scavengers, who will literally eat anything that they can sink their claws into. But, the age old question about bait really depends on what type of crabbing activity one does. Commercial crabbers in the Bering Sea, who go after the larger crabs will bait their Crab Pots with large chunks of fish, along with the fish heads and guts that people normally throw out. They may also include a bait bottle with mashed clams and other fishy viscera, and or a slowly dissolving oily and smelly chemical attractant solution. That type of baiting is obviously on one extreme.
Recreational crabbing generally requires less bait dedication; as long as there's something in the crab trap, a crab will eventually smell it and show up to try to eat it. What helps the crab smell something is water movement. If a trap is laid in dead calm waters, where there is zero tidal activity, then that scent is not going to be carried very far. This is why long time crabbers like to go to areas that have good tidal bore movement, so that any bait scent is carried, attracting crabs from a much greater distance.
Alternatively, some crabbers will augment their chances by using a lot of bait, filling a bait bag with an overflowing amount of bio material that is leaking a tremendous amount of smelly crab calling juices. What people have used as bait ranges with imagination and costs as consideration. Anything from Bunker (Atlantic Menhaden, type of oily fish) to Chicken Necks; to old 'about to spoil' and discarded fish parts (many supermarkets will sell this at reduced cost) can be used. Others will even bait their traps with cans of Cat Food that had holes punched into them.
All things considered one has to decide for him or herself how much of an investment one wants to make in the crabbing activity. There doesn't seem to be a wrong way to bait a crab trap.

Why is graphite used in fishing rods?
Hi, ok many manufacturers use different graphite rating systems to describe their fishing rods. Im sure you have seen for example 70 million modulus(basspro rods), IM-9(Shimano Crucial), and the other is 36-ton Graphite(Abu Garcia Verdict). Each of these rating systems describe a different trade and are not similar in any case. Modulus describes the stiffness or backbone to the graphite used.
IM ratings like on higher end Shimano rods, describe the tonnage of graphite used in making of the rod, which also differentiates the quality of graphite. Higher the IM rating, higher the tonnage in the material. IM is just a rating that one manufacturer chose to use over the tonnage rating typically used, but they are the same thing. Graphite tonnage or IM rating as it escalates in value, mean better sensitivity, since less fibers are used in the structure of the fishing rod.
Finally to add to the modulus rating, I do not recommend buying a fishing rod based on it, as many other factors come into play when buying a truly fine tuned higher end rod.
Hope that helps

What is the best bait for salt water pier fishing?
live shrimp if you have a bubble box and a plastic bucket. you can buy a bubble box at most bait & tackle stores near the beach. They will show you how to use them at the store. They are about $10 and require two D batteries to work. If you do not have access to live bait I would suggest using dead shrimp or squid. Live bait works best but dead bait is better than no bait.

Which core material would make the strongest electromagnet?
Wire: The best wire for electromagnets is called magnet wire. It is simply copper wire with a very thin enamel insulation. It is thin so you can get as many windings possible on to your electromagnet. I am assuming you are going for a strong magnet. More windings = more power.
Core:
I would say the best cores are Soft Iron in terms of cost effectiveness and availability.
btw, all bolts and nails are made of steel which is not the same as soft iron.
There is a better option. You can buy something called a Ferrite Rod which will perform better, but a little more expensive and harder to come by. You can order it online. This is my recommend choice. However, it is brittle and must be handled with care. It is a ceramic and will break.
Last item on the list of cores is Mu-metal. Some people say this is the best material for a core. Don't bother with it. It is hard to come by, expensive, and not really worth it.
Tips: If you can try to get a core which is in a horseshoe/ C-shape. It will improve your performance.
Is it safe for fisherman to go fishing?
Not neccessarily. There are few things that can be avoided: - Inclement weather (i.e. lightning) Never stay on the water when you hear thunder It may be helpful to carry a battery powered radio to check the weather -DO NOT put your finger in a fish's mouth no matter the size for any reason. Even small fish have teeth. Use a pair of pliers to remove any hooks and if it is swallowed cut the line off as close as you can to its mouth -BE Careful when handling catfish some have poisonous spines that can inflict a painfu sting Hooks are EXTREMELY SHARP(for obvious reason) handle with care. Barbs on hooks can be flattened. Those are your dangers when you're fishing. As for fishing being dangerous if follow common sense, you should be perfectly safe. I've fished for years and the only time I've been hurt are when I didn't pay attention to the obvious.
