How many 8x8 inch ceramic tile will you need to cover 443 square feet?

443 square feet = 443*12*12 = 63792 sq inches

Each tile = 8*8 = 64 sq inches

So minimum number of tiles required = 63792/64 = 996.75 or 997.

However, that assumes that almost all the offcuts can be used. In real life it would be sensible to have more tiles to allow for breakages and wastage.

How many 18 square inch tiles will be needed to cover 384 square feet?

Simply divide the total area (384 sq ft) by the tile area (18 sq ft)

384 / 18 = 21.333 tiles

Assuming that you can only use a whole, and not .333 of a tile, you round up to the nearest tile.

21.333 tiles --> 22 tiles

How do you install vinyl sheet flooring?

Answer from Choices (http://www.choicesflooring.com.au/vinyl/)

Generally, cushion vinyl is laid loosely so any imperfections in the floor don't show through over time. It can also be glued down, but the flooring needs to be completely level. Vinyl tiles or planks are glued down so the surface needs to be completely level, which is done by applying a self- leveler to the floor if required.

How many 20x20 tiles will take to cover 1000 sq ft?

Just multiply 20 by 20 to find that each tile has 400 square feet to it. Then divide 1000 by 400 to find that you'll need 2.5 tiles -- so you should buy three.

Some one painted shellac on the floor to make it shine Now full of flaking and scratches How do you refinish a laminate floor?

You can't refinish it. Laminate is a form of plastic. I'm sorry to say, but your floor is probably ruined beyond repair. You can try to remove the shellac, but be prepared to tear out the floor instead and replace if this doesn't work. I'd try a bit of citrus-based stripper on an inconspicuous area (closet?) - it will easily remove the shellac, but might damage the finish on the floor. (Can't be any worse than what you have now, right?) The citrus-based strippers work just as effectively as harsher chemical strippers, but seem to cause less damage to other materials. I've used it successfully to remove stain and polyurethane from vinyl windows, with no damage. Once done, clean the floor well with a laminate floor cleaner or window cleaner.

Is it ok to live in a room with wet carpet for a week or more?

No. You will be exposed to mold spores and other bacteria and germs. You must not be in any room or building that has sopping wet or even damp carpeting. The carpet must be ripped out or treated by a special company that replaces the carpet pad and dries out the carpeting after treating it with a disinfectant and mold inhibitor. If you are in a room like that you must leave it now.

Everyone in the house or apartment or duplex must get out and the professionals need to come in to inspect the place then come up with the proper way to treat not only the carpeting but the floors, walls and whatever else was exposed to the water.

So get moving out of there now. Do not take things with you that have been exposed to any form of dampness or wetness.
