I know of two possibilities. It could refer to Halo Reels, a company that manufactures fly fishing reels, or it could be referring to the Halo Mayfly pattern.

It's normally a man made a row of stones or dyke pointing 10 degrees upstream to create resting places for salmon. It is not uncommon to have 2 croys together on opposite banks, this will help create fast water and in time a pool for salmon to rest down deep. There probably is no definite best, it depends on what you like and the color of the water you fish. Personally, I go with amber polarized lenses and consider them mandatory equipment for fishing clear rivers, you're blind without them.

JC Higgins lures were named for an old employee at Sears. They started making them in the 40's and quit in the early 60's. I have no facts to back that up, as this is what I've learned from other fellow lure collectors.

There are several good manufacturers of waders. Depending on the number of days on the river and your budget, you can find a decent pair. Definitely get breathable waders made of gortex or similar material. I recommend waders with stocking feet and a good pair of boots versus built in boots, better fit and more comfortable. Key attributes to look for:

Durability - look for reinforced areas in the knees and butt

Accessibility - quick release suspenders or a design that allows you to 'go' without removing all your top gear

Warranty - gotta have a good warranty policy, lifetime if possible

Since their copyright date says 2013, and their Twitter page was last updated 10 hours ago (on May 31st 2013) I'd say it would be last updated sometime in May 2013, although the exact day is hard to tell.

I am performing research on a fly rod that was found in my grandparents home. The rod is marked FOLSOM, with no other markings. Also, during my research, I found a site that is selling some vintage tackle made by the Folsom company. The logo on the package is the same as the logo I saw on the rod in my grandparents home. Based on the above, I would Folsom was in the fishing tackle business (although primarily firearms) and must have made some fly rods.

You can pursue a goal, the fish, without worrying too much about actually succeeding. You are also actively involved in the environment, constantly learning and stimulating your mind.
