Franz Schubert

Schuberts Winterreise (winter journey) is a song cycle of 24 poems by Wilhelm Mueller's, and set to music by Schubert in 1827.

Franz Schubert was a pianist. He wrote 14 sonatas, 11 impromptus and sets of variations for solo piano. Most of his songs are composed for piano and voice.

Franz Schubert's mother, Elisabeth Vietz, died in 1812.

Schubert, during his short life of 31 years, never married. He did have, shortly before his death, a hopeless passion for a pupil, named Karoline.

Catherine Schubert was the only woman among a group of goldseekers called the 'Overlanders of '62' These hardly travellers set off from Fort Garry westward across the prairies in carts and wagons. There were no roads, only trails to follow. The greatest obstacle was the Rocky Mountians. The only way over the mountains was to find a pass, such as the Athabasca Pass, and make the climb on foot or snowshoe. The last part of the trip was by boat down the Columbia River with its dangerous rapids to Fort Vancouver. Catherine Schubert gave birth to a daughter the day she arrived in Kamloops.

Goethe. I could not understand how anybody could see anything romantic in the impending death of a child. There are no last-minute escapes or rescues- so it is not a ( Life or death suspense) angle. There was once a market for this morbid stuff. I can"t see it. Thank God if somebody tried it today- with the very real backdrop of child abuse daily making the media scene- well it would possibly be banned.

According to the folks at Greenland Garden Centres it is just a natural occurrence in this popular tree. I have noticed that some of the recently drought stricken local trees seem to be suckering more than they were in previous wet years. I am not sure if drought is the cause of this.

Franz Schubert wrote The Erlking in his teenage years. It was written in 1815

There are a few possible answers; 1. Schubert had other more lucrative offers (such as an opera commission) available to him and decided to pause work on the Eighth until a later date. 2. He realised that there was little chance of the work being performed, so decided to abandon it's composition. 3. The final movements were used elsewhere in Schuberts work. For example, the final movement may have been used as an extensive Entr'acte in the opera Rosamunde. 4. Schubert was in fact satisfied with the Symphony in its two movement format, and felt that those movements were so strong that anything that followed would prove anti-climactic. 5. Some of the later great works of Beethoven, a god to Schubert, contained only two movements, most notably his last piano sonata op. 111. Schubert may not have considered a two-movement work to be 'unfinished' at all. Which is the correct answer? Who knows...

I do not know.

It is possible, but unlikely she ever sang it. She never recorded it. In fact she never recorded anything in German, or anything that wasn't from opera.
